Have you ever wondered what purgatory feels like?!It's Friday night - and all you want is a strong, dirty Cosmo to calm the nerves. Well - if you really want it... you'll have to wait here. Sometime in excess of 30 minutes. This place is one of the closest I've ever felt to the afterlife - in a very mediocre way. I like to think that I'll end up in purgatory. But after the dreadful wait time on that Cosmo I truly wonder if hell is better. I'm giving 3 stars because the ambiance is well above average for a hotel bar in Atlanta.

The piedmont sidecar is awesome! Kiki our server is sweet and caring to our needs. The vibe of the place offers relaxing and charming vibes. The bread is nice!

I love our waitress, Alexis! She's Amazing. Incredibly helpful!! We ordered a gin a tonic and she was so sweet when we were deciding on which one to go with next, she brought us a half shot each. When we mentioned that we were looking for a place to eat she happily sent over two gentlemen to give us a professional opinion of a fantastic restaurant. One of the gentleman, the concierge, Nathan was amazing & made reservations for us for dinner and set up a driver to take us there. We both got gin-a-tonic's one with Hendric and the other was the botanist. AMAZING!!!On a side note about the so called amazing concierge.. As nice as the concierge service was, it was lacking. My reservation at the W was set in midtown to enjoy midtown. Unfortunately we got bad advice. They recommended a restaurant in Buckhead and set up a driver to bring us. The driver over 20-minuses late and couldn't even find the place. He kept saying he didn't know the area and come to find out he lives in Buckhead. We ended up wasting a lot of time as he drove us back to midtown.

Extremely impressive design. Lush space with A+ drinks. The food is okay -- however I wouldn't plan on coming here for a full course meal, this is definitely an either before or after dinner venue. They had a DJ playing on the Friday night that I attended, very very good variety of music. There is a parking garage right next to the hotel which is nice, valet is offered up front. I would definitely return, one of the most modern and bourgeoisie locations yet.

I'm not sure I've ever left a review with Yelp. But I have to do it to describe how poor my experience was with one bartender here tonight. The bar is fairly busy but I'm still able to walk up to it where I patiently wait to order a drink. I look at the drinks menu, uninspiring but the blackberry smash looks like the best of the bunch. Bartender gets to me and I say I would like a blackberry smash. She gives me a weird look and says "I wouldn't, I would get one of the local beers" well of course you would, it's busy in here and you don't want to make that drink. Ok, fine. I'll get an old fashioned. Super easy to make. She said "really?". I'm not asking you to conjure a spirit for my spirits, just a simple old fashioned. I tell her yes and she proceeds to make the worst old fashioned I've ever had in my life. Just LOADED down with simple syrup. I feel like I should bill Marriott for my diabetes after the two sips I took from that catastrophe. She was just rude and clearly didn't want to be there. I have status with Marriott (Bonvoy?), travel a decent bit for work and have never had that poor of an experience at one of their on-property bars. You'll probably have a great experience if you get someone else.

Living Room is a Rande Gerber masterpiece that also serves as the main bar @ the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. It opens every day at noon, and you can be sure enjoy yourself within its confines. I love the styling of the place- as I can't even describe what category it falls under, and I don't want to mislabel it. But it is truly unique. There are even a bunch of hidden seating areas under steps and what not if you would like more privacy. At the bar area, they have beautiful bartenders (and ladies, I guess you can say there are a few handsome male bartenders as well) shaking up anything you wish. There are two tvs too behind glass, which give it a cool feel. The seating is spacious and there are many types as well, and when you go outside, it is another story! They have a wall lined with greens (sorry, not a botanist), and bordered by a running stream, W style. It provides great views of midtown and a place to get some fresh air. You never know who you may run into out here! There is a gentleman that always opens the door for you as well. The staff and selection are top notch, and although some items can be pricey (remember, this is in a hotel), the service you get makes it at least more worthwhile- as I have been to places and spent $15+ on a drink that they might as well have pissed in it...I am actually surprised that no one has made a review of this place yet! The crowd here is diverse and hosts a lot of cool events (I highly recommend you check out if you are a modern art fan)- it can get real busy at times, but well worth it! For me, this has been one of my favorite Gerber Bars- I will be sure to take some pics the next time I go! And yes, I will be back, as I know it will be a pleasurable experience!

This place is an upscale lounge located in midtown Atlanta. The place is well decorated complete with a bar, kitchen, indoor and outdoor patio seating. The signature drinks are sweet, the service was swift, they had decent service. This place gets loud and the voices resonates, but it's a good vibe to get a drink and talk and catch up with people.Tonight, I went to the Julia Michaels concert. They made a makeshift stage on the middle stairs. The performance was great! People were taking during the performance and it got loud due to crowd noise, but it was still enjoyable. I'd come here again.

During this stay at the W, I spent several hours in the Living Room. (Or perhaps more accurately, outside smoking cigars on the patio.) It was better than my experience during my last stay at the W.Vickie is still a terrific bartender. The others are okay.Service was mostly good, although on one occasion it took a long time to get someone to bus the refuse from a previous group. Three out of four servers were excellent. They have a small list of over priced cigars, but you can bring your own. It's a good place to smoke and have a cocktail. After my previous visit, I wrote:Service and quality of drinks varied greatly during the three nights I stayed at at the W. Vickie was an outstanding bartender. Quick, friendly, and knew how to make the classic cocktails. Unfortunately, she seemed to be one of a kind at the Midtown W.The other bartenders ranged from okay to terrible. I don't know how it's possible to screw up a mojito, but on Saturday night one of them managed to do so. Also on Saturday night, I can't remember another time when I've been a guest at the hotel and have been required to leave my ID at the bar to keep my tab open. This was the only time during a three night stay when the bartender even asked for my ID much less insisted on keeping it until I closed my check.Service was generally good, although there were a few times when things were slow and servers spent more time chatting with the bartender than paying attention to guests. Overall, it was pretty disappointing.

This is a very nice bar! It has nice seating inside and outside. I can see why they call it the Living room bar! It is conformable like your own living room, but very chic! We were staying at the hotel on a Saturday and we decided to redeem our complimentary drink tickets before we got ready for dinner. We sat at the bar and looked at the menu. They have an extensive cocktail menu! The bar staff greeted us right away. One drink that stood out to me was the Jalapeno margarita! My friend had ordered the Lavender margarita. Both were delicious and strong, but my margarita was the winner for me. If you like margaritas and you like things hot, this is the drink for you! The drinks here are a little pricey, but that's to be expected. The regular price for our drinks were $10.The bar staff were still nice and attentive to us even though we had our complimentary drink tickets. I was afraid they were going to turn their noses up at us while thinking "Cheap mofos". But I'm sure only hotel guests get the complimentary drink tickets, which maybe is why they were still nice to us.This bar has a chill atmosphere and good drinks. I will probably stop by here when I'm in Midtown again.
