Food was absolutely amazing it's had me thinking about it ever since I ate there for the first time. I have the steak browns skillet and wow it was delicious! Lots of flavor and the portion was very decent. I ordered to go but the setting is a small diner and was offered coffee while I waited for my order and felt very welcomed. They do. It take reservations and I was unable to place order over the phone regardless I will definitely be returning for the same plate!

The staff has always been courteous at Little Cheerful and the food is fine. It isn't great, but it's fine. My issues with this restaurant might not be fair. They are located in downtown Bellingham which I'm sure is VERY expensive to operate from. The few times I've eaten here though I just never feel that the product is worth the price. It's always just been fine at best.

A coworker recommended this place and I'm so glad she did. It is a welcoming funky space and had single diners, couples, and families enjoying a Sunday morning around 8:30. It's not a big soace and was already packed. It's very well run so they were turning tables pretty quick but we never felt rushed. We waited about 10 minutes. The staff were all charming and efficient. My wife and mother-in-law had pancakes and I went with the biscuits and gravy. They were quite happy with the cakes and my wife opted for the "R" rated version with strawberries and a sausage patty on the side. She said the sausage was very good. My biscuits and gravy were outstanding! The buttermilk biscuit was fresh and nailed the sweet spot between flaky and delicate while having the fortitude to hold up to the gravy. The gravy was hearty and perfectly seasoned; the eggs cooked exactly to order (I judge a breakfast cook by their ability to cook an egg) . So I was a happy camper. Then I met the hash browns. Holy moly, these folks know how to treat a potato. Crispy and beautifully browned while still having some creaminess, and deftly seasoned. This is my kind of place - quality ingredients, prepared with skill, and delivered with genuine friendliness in a quirky inclusive environs. Makes me love the PNW. Coffee was B+. Ketchup was homemade or local. Other intriguing sauces and jams on table. A family reading some books to kids at next table. Really great breakfast. I'll be back (from Olympia) because I have to see how they approach toast (which so many joints inexcusably treat a an afterthought). Little Cheerful is currently in my top three breakfast places in WA/OR. See Bits in Olympia and Morning Glory Cafe in Ashland.

I have always known the Little Cheerful as a classic, great breakfast place in Bellingham. The service is always great, the food is delicious, and although they usually do not have a table right away they make it a priority to get you one. The space is small, but it adds to the community feel that everyone loves in Bellingham.

OMH! Let me start this with I am fussy - I don't eat eggs - 90% of breakfast places have eggs added as a default then I get weird looks asking for no eggs and the prices don't change but if you add them they do - it's a business - I get that.Anyway! This place had eggs as an additional but that's not the point of this review. They were super friendly; fast service. But the food was fantastic!! I had the California hash and added pork. So so so good! Not only did I take it home but I actually finished my leftovers - which I never do. The biscuit is arguably the best biscuit I have ever had. I have been dreaming of the biscuit since having it 4 days ago. Go. They are awesome. We absolutely will be back.

Great little place to grab breakfast. The meals were hearty and tasty. Service was great as well and I loved all the cartoon characters painted on the windows as well. We ordered eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious and my toddler couldn't stop eating the eggs and gravy!

Like the city's motto instructs us, I had to "subdue my excitement" over the Carnitas Scramble. Otherwise, I would have gone into the kitchen and bowed to the kitchen staff. THIS DISH IS MIND-BLOWING in its flavor complexities. Even the Americano, the most pedestrian of espresso-based preparations...was excellent. Portions are over-sized and designed to feed college kids or hungry climbing guides.

Been wanting to try this place for a while now. Went for breakfast on a Monday and was left wanting. Server was super nice! Coffee was hot and kinda blah. Wife got a latte and enjoyed it. Got the Cali skillet and it had no seasoning. I don't think they even used any. On top of that the place was very noisy, which made it tough to enjoy our breakfast date. A non-repeat place for me. on top of that, it was $30 for two coffees and we shared a breakfast. Pretty expensive for what you get...
