We had a very nice birthday dinner for the husband who has celiac. 98% of the menu is or can be gluten free. The feature Italian and Portuguese cuisine so nothing can go wrong. The veal parm is amazing. The fresh pasta is delicious. The meatballs are some of the best i have ever had!! The sauce is delicious. Throw in a chorizo bombiero because who doesnt like fire?! Other people at the table enjoyed the burger, gluten free pasta dishes and seafood.

Libertine is a Portuguese-Italian fusion restaurant and a must try for those who eat gluten-free! The menu is advertised as 98% gluten-free (with the exception of ravioli dishes, such as the lobster ravioli).Libertine has a generous drink selection which includes port wines, hard seltzers, mocktails, and of course gluten-free beers... on top of the standard beer, wine and cocktail selection. Each appetizer at Libertine can be made gluten-free. My table opted to go with the choco frito (fried Portuguese style cuddle fish). The cuddle fish themselves were lightly breaded and perfectly fried, and served with a garlic sriracha aioli. Ideally there could have been a few more pieces of cuddle fish for the $23 price tag, but it was filling enough as an appetizer. For main dishes, I ordered the lobster tail ravioli (non gluten-free) and my companion ordered the lobster tail carbonara, a gluten-free dish. Both dishes came out hot and in decently sized portions (not too small, but not big enough to take home for leftovers). The lobster ravioli came with six large ravioli. Both the ravioli and the lobster tail carbonara came in a creamy sauce filled with surprise chunks of lobster claw, which were cooked to an enjoyable and flaky consistency. The service at Libertine was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time. Our server offered us dessert at the close of our meal, though we did not have any more room and declined to see the dessert menu. The check total was what I expected for Italian dining in the North End.There were a few other dishes on the menu that caught my eye and I'd like to try next time I am at Libertine, such as the grilled octopus, chouriço bombeiro, meatballs, and gnocchi sorrentina.

Was in Boston wife's first time so we had to hit the north end for Italian. We were there for lunch so not a lot of places are opened for lunch so we stopped in. The inside was with the typical Italian decor but it had air conditioning which was nice walking in the heat. We started with the fired calamari which I am lucky my wife ate since she is not a huge seafood person but it was delicious. I had Mariscada which had a very good taste and the dish was overall was different and delicious. My wife had the ravioli and she said it was very goodThe owner was great and she kept checking in on us and kept our glasses full. If I am ever back in Boston I will hit this place up again.

Food was fabulous! Absolutely loved the lobster carbonara! Lobster was cooked to perfection and the homemade pasta was delicious. Would go back and eat this again and again! My friend is Gluten Free and Dairy Free, and the chef came out to speak with her personally to help decipher what would be best. They decided on seared scallops and a vegan risotto prepared especially for her. She loved it. Just to note: all the pasta here is GF. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to help! GF bread options as well. I had the tiramisu as well which they comp'd because it was the last piece and wasn't the normal full-size. It was also amazing. Ambience was loud and tables were close together. Dressy or casual attire is fine here. Highly recommend for the food, and go at an off time if you want a quieter experience.

If I could give 10 stars I would. First off you can get your food gluten free except for the ravioli, they just can't. The bread they serve can be gf as well as their pastas. I got the lobster carbonara and it is to die for!! I also got a side of asparagus-sautéed and presented with some balsamic vinegar. They also serve seasonal cocktails and the bar tenders are wonderful. I would come back to Boston Just For This Restaurant! Everyone is friendly and kind. I am dining alone but they are treating me so well. And the part that seals the deal... the owner is here, watching both the kitchen and the dining room/bar. Attention to detail and pride shows in every way. Thank you for a delicious dinner, for being so kind and welcoming you have truly made my short trip to Boston

Was really excited to give this place a try as it came highly recommended by some gluten free creators and find me gluten free but it was overall very disappointing. The pasta was overcooked, the sauce was watery and not flavorful, and I'm pretty sure the bread for the table was cut up udis hamburger buns. For Italian in the north end we expected a lot more. Our server was curt and barely took the time to get our orders and service was slow. The one bright side was the absolutely fantastic singer who came through. Overall, just really basic food. You'd be better off finding an Italian spot that has fewer gluten free options but that does them well.

Came on a Saturday and sat at the bar right away. About 20 min later it was standing room only. The bartenders were amazing. I had the pistachio martini and my friend had the Portuguese Spritz... both very good! I ordered the gnocchi and she ordered the bolognese- absolutely delicious!

A little bit away from the hustle of Hanover tucked away on Salem the staff is very welcoming from the moment you walk in. I have been to the bar here multiple times and the drinks are delicious with great bartenders. I love the espresso martini and lemon drop! My friend is Gluten Free and I appreciate having a restaurant in the neighborhood that not only can accommodate her, but have so many different options to choose from! It's great knowing how much they care. The chicken parm is my favorite! Highly recommend whether you're GF or not!
