Always a good time!! During summer I make sure to check for reservations a month or two in advance if I want an optimal evening time, especially on a weekend. It's hard to get reservations otherwise. You could definitely walk in but I wouldn't recommend unless you are okay with standing room only next to the bar, and not really being able to be close to the side of the building to see the view. I recommend reserving around sunset so you can see the sunset glow and then the city light up! Make sure to reserve the rooftop and not the indoor area. There is no view in the indoor area, which is a floor below the rooftop. There's no windows so it doesn't matter that you're high up! Just feels like you're inside a hotel restaurant.I've been here a couple of times now and I always appreciate that the reserved table seating on the rooftop is next to the edge of the building so you can see the river, bridges, everything! Sometimes the people who are walk-ins don't stay in the standing area and they move to the space in between the reserved tables and the side of the building to get photos. I super super appreciate that the security and staff are diligent about asking those people to move back to the bar area, because that space is so small and they are basically hovering over your table and blocking the view! If the security wasn't on top of it, we would not have had as good an experience because it really changes the vibe when strangers are crowded around your table. The food is so good! I've tried a lot of different apps and mains here, and the menu has changed a little each time, so some things I had aren't on the menu anymore. I was surprised at how delicious everything is! Especially anything with wagyu or steak, and anything that is Asian-inspired cuisine. It's a high price point but it makes a lot of sense considering you are paying for good quality food with a great ambience.Cocktails are always great too! Some are pretty unique and all have been tasty.Definitely recommend this spot, especially when showing out-of-town folks around Chicago!

A tourist trap in it's finest with very misleading marketing. RH 21 IS NOT A ROOFTOP RESTAURANT. Two stars in that despite it's name and marketing RH 21 IS NOT A ROOFTOP RESTAURANT. We came here for a late lunch and were seated in main restaurant area on the 21st floor, despite the name, there is no outdoor seating on the 21st floor, the few small windows face the concrete facade of the building next door so there is literally no view or discernable reason the restaurant is located on the top floor vs any other level. There is a small patio one floor above with a bar but all seats along the balcony rail are roped off / reserved so most guests will only see glimpses of the river from specific locations. The food was mediocre- it is very much overpriced hotel lobby caliber, however, the service was phenomenal and very lovely. The restaurant does have a strict 1.5 hours they allow guests to eat within which is strange given the restaurant has little reason for people to linger (ie no views whatsoever). The London House facilities, design, and property seemed very much like most Hilton managed properties in Chicago- in dire need of repair / refresh but leveraging legacy marketing to milk every dollar from the tired properties in their local portfolio. In summary, don't book a reservation here until you walk the site first. If you want to see the view, grab a drink on the patio take in the view for 20 minutes and leave. The restaurant food is expensive , not great, and there is literally no view or anything to see within the restaurant itself. A tourist trap in it's finest with very misleading marketing.

If you're looking for an attainable rooftop experience in Chicago, look no further! On a Friday/ Saturday night, you can expect a line to get on the elevator up to the rooftop, but the line moves quickly. We ended up waiting around 20 minutes on a Friday night at 8pm. Once you're at the top, the view is the real draw -- the bar itself is OK, but be prepared to spend $$$$ on drinks. A basic Gin & Tonic costs what a fancy drink would cost at a normal bar, but you're paying for the view. I'd definitely recommend stopping by around sunset; the view is spectacular and absolutely worth it. That said, I'd definitely recommend getting a reservation if possible. Most of the reserved tables take up the railing area, and the two small spots at the railing that are open to standing room fill up quickly (for good reason!) Overall, if you're visiting Chicago or showing folks around, it's absolutely worth a visit once!

Cool spot that definitely gets packed. Go for the views and if you can score a good spot it's worth hanging. You can grab a drink and apps inside too.

This is hands down my favorite rooftop spot in Chicago! I had a friend visiting from out of town, and I just had to bring him here. The place offers absolutely stunning views that give a holistic picture of how beautiful Chicago truly is.We arrived around 10 PM on a Monday night, and luckily, due to it being a weekday, there was no queue. We ordered the Bad Bunny and Forever Summer cocktails. Lately, I've been enjoying cocktails with refreshing flavors, so the Forever Summer was perfect for me. My friend, on the other hand, was looking for a stronger drink with more spirit, and he loved the Bad Bunny.Since we walked in late, there wasn't much seating available, but there are plenty of standing spots which worked just fine for us.I definitely recommend this place!

Entering the wonderland was a treat! The view was stunning and the decor was charming. We were seated promptly without any issues. As we savored espresso martinis and truffle fries, we soaked in the breathtaking view of Chicago. The espresso martinis were delightful with a robust coffee flavor, and while the liquor was subtle, it packed a punch! The truffle fries made for a perfect appetizer to share, ideal for 3-4 people. The black truffle dipping sauce was particularly delicious!Tip: Visit during quieter hours to avoid the rush, especially around 5pm when it gets very busy!

Great views, with decent food (on the pricier side). There are no shaded areas on the rooftop but that wasn't an issue for us, the hostess made sure everyone knew this info prior to being seated. Also worth noting it's standing room only unless you order food. Food portions/prices were typical of a higher end restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed hangin on the rooftop and soaking up the sun!

Can't beat the view Located in the London house hotel (next to the River hotel)No cover charge? Open bar Open seating and reserved section Can't really hear music playing if there was Seems to be a busy spot: business folks, group outing, and solo travelers Certainly for the view over looking the city and river. Lights and decor added to the ambiance. Service was good friendly and quick. Constant cleanliness and clearing of drinks.Would recommend for the rooftop experience.

Based on my experience, the main selling point of this place is undoubtedly the rooftop. Like most rooftop restaurants, the food is fairly basic. However, the music and vibes are pretty good. Our waitress was attentive and very nice, which I appreciated.I'm giving this place 3 stars primarily because of the food. We had the truffle fries, which were greasier than your typical order, and I ordered the octopus as an appetizer, which was also overly greasy. To be clear, the food wasn't terrible, I just wouldn't come here for dinner service. Despite this, I would consider coming back, but only for the drinks and views of the city.

Loved the ambiance and view here on July 4th! Drinks were strong and the waitress gave us 2 free orders of the truffle fries! We booked a reservation for 5 to get seats (highly recommend) and we were able to stay much longer than the allotted 90 minutes as well :)
