I like sushi so I was pretty curious to see what kind of options there would be here. Walking in, it seemed very desolate. The restaurant looked a little dodgy and it had a weird layout. Intsead of ordering at the counter, you had to order from this little post that was off to the side. So, I was a little skeptical but I wanted to give it a fair shot. The woman who took our orders was nice and we didn't have to wait too long as no one was there.I ordered the happy sunday roll and I didn't like it. It tasted weird, the batter wasn't seasoned and it had no flavor. The salmon was also a gross texture, it was mushy. It honestly tasted like it wasn't cooked all the way. It was also supposed to come with sauce but it didn't so it was plain. I did, however, like everyone else's dish. My family members ordered the chicken teriyaki, a crunch munch roll, and a mango roll. Since we were all sharing, I was able to eat some of their portions. After tasting a little of what I got, nobody wanted to eat mine. Not wanting to be rude, I decided to try and scarf it down and get it out of the way as quickly as possibe. I was also the only one who had the miso soup since I think everyone felt bad and gave it to me. The soup was pretty good.Later that same night, I felt really sick. I threw up when I got home and my stomach was hurting me pretty badly. I thought that I had food posioning. It kept hurting for days until I went to the hospital. I'm not saying for sure that it was this establishment as I don't know for certain but this was the only new food I had tried that day and I felt sick almost immediately after eating it.After months of going to the ER and having mulitple tests done for my stomach pain, I found out that I had H. pylori. It's an infection that can be passed from person to person through direct contact with saliva, vomit or stool. It can also be spread through contaminated food or water. So, it's safe to say that out of fear and discomfort, that I will never be visiting this place again. I still have stomach issues to this day after eating here and it can be very painful at times. I don't recommend eating here. Not only because it could be a health concern but also because there are better sushi places around.(This review is originally from September 9, 2023 and has since been edited).

Yummi yummi sushi is a sushi establishment located in the southend of Lousiville right at the corner of new cut road and southside drive. Located in a smaller building that has changed tenants quite a bit over the last few years. It has been a fast food spot, a dq type place called penguin point, a falafel place and now a sushi joint. Each time the renovations are interesting to see the change. Walking in and it is very spacious but small dining room. To the right you can be seated to dine in and have full service table treatment. To the left is a to go bar area. Which seems like a unique and judging by the constant activity a popular option. We we're able to grab a seat rather quickly. We decided to go with two sushi rolls of a crunch munch and Fried crab roll. Both were pretty good with nice flavor. All sushi rolls actually seemed adequately priced and reasonable. Usually between $9-$13. So not bad. I will say they had very few fried sushi roll options. So if that is you presence you will have less to choose from.My wife and I both went with an entree as well. Both went with Chicken teriyaki which comes with rice, veggies and Miso soup. They kind make up for the reasonable sushi prices by overcharging for the entrees. Most weee over $20 a plate which is higher for a southend of Lousiville place. The miso soup was pretty good and a nice start. The chicken and rice was just ok. My wife and I both agreed that the Chicken was very dry overall so had to be mixed with loads of sauce and rice. Overall this is a solid spot. Personally in the future I'll stick with sushi rolls only. The entree for the price was underwhelming. Not gross but just not great. At $12-15 a plate it would be much better for the portion and taste wise.

We have been on a quest for the best sushi in the city. We've tried a few options and decided to try another new restaurant. Enter Yummi Yummi Sushi. Located off Southland Drive, where I expect a variety of ethnic restaurants anyway, this space does not disappoint.we can on a mid Monday afternoon, and we're seated promptly. We had excellent service. We ordered a veggie tempura and then some sushi rolls. I got the veggie roll which contained asparagus, cucumber, pickled radish, topped with gorgeous avocado. We also ordered a deep fried crispy roll. It had a lovely combination of cream cheese, avocado, red snapper, shrimp, crab and eel sauce. It was flavorful and a nice twist on sushi. Our service was excellent. It was a wonderful experience. I noticed a lot of to go orders, maybe for next time. There will be a next time.

Came home for the holidays when my parents told me of this place that opened near our house. This place has changed ownership quite a few times and I'm most satisfied with this current owner as the other ones were just okay at best. We ordered the crunch munch roll $11.25, the fried shrimp roll $7.95, and 2 house salads $2.50 each and got a good amount of food for less than $30! This place would've been dangerous for me when I was living at home because I would've gone very often especially when it's good and is very well priced. The house salad was honestly slightly better than other ones I'm used to because the dressing was slightly different but a good different. I think the favorite one was the fried shrimp roll but overall it was a very good experience and I would go here again whenever I'm in town! I definitely recommend this place to anyone if they're in the area as it satisfies my sushi craving and is very close by!

Getting 4 stars due to the other folks in my pary who thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. There were 4 of us and 3 of us had the miso soup. Two really liked it. I did not like the flavor. But will preface with maybe my taste buds were off last night as I really didn't care for any of the rolls we ordered and we had 6 different things. All four had the salad with ginger dressing and all including me thought it was very good. Obviously just iceberg lettuce and the ginger dressing, light and great flavor. We had Crispy Roll, Jacks Roll, Sweet Potato, Philly Roll, Chicago and one other. Some crispy (fried), some raw. Th sweet potato was my favorite but all the other rolls had some kind of fish in them that I thought was strong tasting (fishy) (again all the others loved the selection. Favorites were Crispy Roll, Jacks Roll and Sweet Potato. We live in the neighborhood and have been going to this location for years as it has been a variety of resturants . Grateful to have a non- chain sushi resturants open here in the southend with a chef who is respected in the community. I say sushi but they do gave more tradition Japanese dishes which I will order next time.Remodeling is nicely done, very informal but bright, clean dining and pick up space. Plenty of parking on site. . Staff was very friendly.. interesting that they being out dishes at varying times but we were all sharing so no biggie. 6 rolls, 4 salads 3 soups and all drinking water with tip was $90. Ample food but no left overs.

Really nice place! You can tell when a restaurant has really fresh fish...you walk in, you don't even smell fish or shrimp etc...and there's a clean taste the sushi it I can't quite explain. This place hit all my marks! It has really good, high quality fish. Such a fresh flavor. A huge pet peeve is when I get unripe avocado or brown avocado in my rolls. Like the fish the avocado was super fresh. Also, I did not have to edit and or brighten the photos, the food looks that good.Lastly, great service and just a humble staff working there. Definitely recommend!

There wasn't a lunch crowd today and I have to say that I'm surprised! We started with edamame and miso soup that was yummy. We split the avocado and vegetarian rolls. They were both delicious but didn't stay tightly rolled and were a little hard to eat with chopsticks. I hope the south end of Louisville patrons yummi yummi and keeps them in business.

I had really high hopes for this place and saw good reviews.. but i placed a to-go order through door dash today and they gave me the wrong drink, and there was hair in my sushi. Sadly I didn't get to eat it, but it was the California sushi roll and 80% of it looked to be cucumber, so I don't think I missed out on much.
