Yamato Steakhouse of Japan

I walked in hungry for Japanese food. After looking around quickly I made the immediate decision to walk out. The place is filthy and the people working there appeared to not have a clue. A BIG NO on this place.

Really bad sushi. Walked in and there are is no hostess. Wait for five minutes until the waitresses say to sit where I want except for the sushi bar. Those seats are not open. All tables are filthy. Sit at a four person table and wait for another 10 minutes for the menu. My waitress goes out for a 15 minute smoke break. I order the sushi deluxe meal when she returns. She goes out for another smoke break. Get my food and it is horrible. The unagi is cold. The sushi rice is hard and probably left over from the day before. Sushi is falling apart. Waitress stinks of cigarette smoke. Worst sushi meal ever. Will never repeat.

I don't know what happened here. It used to be wonderful, we frequented the establishment. Today we had a to go order, the roll was wrong, a salmon avacado roll missing salmon. Our appetizer wasn't even in our take out bag when we got home. Trying to fix this mess included the sushi chef trying to convince us we didn't lose money on the roll and should just eat it, it wasn't what we ordered. Period. How condescending and rude. Point blank, when you try to rip your loyal customers off, we won't be back.

Pretty good food and cute place but the waitress was old and she made me really uncomfortable but other then that it was really good but I don't recommend eating in there so you should order takeout but overall it's pretty good food

The last several times I've went it seems like the order is wrong. Time and time again. They never get the sushi orders correct. They're always delicious. But this last time it took 35 mins to get the food because it was wrong. They forgot salads and soups. It seems like the waitresses they have are either spread thin (although there was no other patrons in the building) or terribly inexperienced or just don't care.

Do you need a little extra protein in your diet? then this is the perfect place for you! they got FREE DEAD BUGS. Ok so me and my family went here for dinner everything was fine, the food was alright but overall was terrible. I ordered and appetizer for myself since i hadn't eaten a lot and midway through eat AND sharing it i looked down at a plate and there was a bug. A dead bug right on my plate. obviously i dropped what i was eating and one of my family members told the staff. our server was actually really nice to us the whole time and after we told the rest of the staff they all disappeared (im assuming to tell someone like a manager) and she came back shortly telling us we didnt have to pay which at the very least was nice.

The Service so far is ok but all the waitresses were running around and there was virtually no one in the restaurant... The Ambiance is a touch the place is quite dirty and there are stains on the table that look like they haven't been cleaned. Food however, isn't really the best and they serve clear mushroom soup that isn't that good. It takes them around 10 minutes to bring out sushi and anything stake wise it take ~20 minutes. Again the employees were goofing off a lot and being quite loud. With the food again the rice doesn't have much flavor but the steak still tasted nice. I am still giving this place 1 star because of the employees. Again with my employee, she was good but the others were goofing off way too much. It cost us $30 to eat here which is a little bit high. 2 stars created now because our employee was nice.

We were recommended by friends to try Yamato Steakhouse. I had filet teriyaki. The plate was huge. The filet was divine, the rice was Al Dante and the sauce was amazing!Amy was so friendly and gave us A+ service!The ambiance needs some work, but the food is outstanding!I liked the chef's food so much, I tipped him along with Amy! I recommend Yamato's Steak House!

First off we were a group of two adults and 10 children. The server came and we were only ordering sweet tea or lemonade simple right? No we had to tell her the drink order 3 times and she was still came out two drinks short and then she takes the order. Once again simple 2 teriyaki dinner meals and 6 hibachi kids meals. 6 salads 5 with ranch and 1with ginger dressing. We had to give the order twice before she understood. By this time I'm done, but the kids had waited this long. She came back and ask if it was one dinner or two. Ok patience wearing thin. Two dinners for the third time. She bright the salads could not remember who got the ginger after she was told 3 times that it went to an adult. Next, she brings the soup we ordered that she forgot. When she brought the soup she ask if we were ready for the meals and we said yes. This girl, by this time server is giving to much credit, says great we have them ready. Ok so we expect them right now if done. No, I went 25 minutes later and ask when the food would be ready to serve. The other staff looked and said now. Keep in mind she had not come back nor had she filled drinks. Three people bring our food and we had to ask for 5 extra plates for the fourth time. She brings a gallon of tea and disappears. We eat, I pay and realize I did not bring cash for the tip. We gathered the children and as we were getting them outside so I could tell this girl I would be back with her tip I hear this girl yelling "Are you serious" as loud as she could. She couldn't serve us without messing it up and disappearing. First you don't get a tip for doing nothing but frustrating children and adults who took time to come to Yamatos to feed their kids. Second, we were going to be courteous and tip her simply because we know it's a big group, but to expect a tip and then yell around a group of kids because you did not see one. Funny how she was quick to go check for that tip but couldn't be that quick taking care of the customers. Third, Yamatos you should really screen your staff better they were discussing their frustrations with the job at their "break table" with customers around. I did call and let them know that we had every intention to tip but we do cash to ensure our server knows what a great job they did. I ask them to tell the server, who upset our kids by yelling, that I was tipping if she could have held her tongue and let me tell her I would be back in with it. Childish, immature, unprofessional girl who needs to learn her job and some respect before she serves the public. We could have made it really bad on her but we were quiet and polite. She lost her 20 tip cause she thought she deserved it. Sorry, I have been a server and you learn that people tip if you make them happy. They eat out to not stress by cooking and to have a break not deal with drama. I and my family will not be going back into Yamato we will go somewhere where they want our business. Even McDonald' has more respect. Whomever runs or owns Yamatos I would like to tell you, your server upset my daughter and grandkids. You were their favorite place now they don't want to come back. To the public I am aware of one bad seed but the other servers were complaining in front of customers too. FYI we were the only guest table she had. Stay away from there unless you want complaints and drama or want to go get your own food while they complain two tables over. I would give zero stars but it won't allow me too.

Food was subpar, not worth the 17.99 I paid per plate. Service was good but very low staff. Maybe 4 people there in total during lunch. It's an interesting dining room set up and is made to look like its higher end which increase a persons assumptions that they will have superior food quality but they just don't. Probably not going back unless dragged by a friend.
