I adopted Nicole 4th of July weekend she was a three month old baby kitten. I had a great experience and highly recommend this location for adoption. The online registration process was simple, the staff is friendly and assistive, and all the cats were well tended to. Nicole acclimated to my home right away with no signs of fear or having been neglected any time prior to her adoption. She had all of her shots up to date, was neutered, and was litter box trained. Today she is triple in size and weight, climbs stairs in a single bound, and loves to purr loud.

The staff at this shelter is AMAZING. They're experts on the care of your adopted pet, and they're honest and funny. The WCHS has a great policy for adopting pets: essentially you can take a pet home on trial (called the Foster-to-Adoption program) that gives you 7 days to decide if the pet you fell in love with in the shelter is yours forever. They take the pet back no questions asked. This is a no-kill shelter and exists solely on donations. What's great is that many local organizations support the shelter (i.e. Joseph Beth has a community-based give back in which you can designate the shelter as the beneficiary). The shelter also has an extensive supply drive during the holidays (though I think they accept donations year-round), and the hallway was stacked with donations. We tried a really great dog (but not great for us) and settled on a cat. We're happy (and he's Happy, too, 'cause that's his name). You can also have birthday parties here...great for a kid who wants a dog but the parents don't!This place has a wide variety of dogs (not just large breeds; they had a litter of puppies) and cats (and are running a 2-for-1 special: buy one cat, get another free!). The process for adoption is pretty extensive, so the staff has a good feel for whether you're a suitable parent for their animals. I appreciate that, and I appreciate this shelter for filling a need and finding homes for deserving pets.

My husband and I adopted a very sweet kitty who was named Rocco from there yesterday (we changed his name to Melix). He is an absolute delight to have around and in my opinion is the perfect pet, so loving even from the first day. The shelter is the nicest one I think I have ever been in. It is so clean and all of the animals looked really healthy. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a new pet. It is absolutely amazing and a big thank you to all the awesome people who work there.

We adopted a Russian Blue from here about 3 months ago. Like another review said, we were allowed to foster and return if it wasn't a good fit. And they'll refund your adoption fee. The place is cleaner than my house too!

We just adopted our puppy from here on the 16th. The facility is very nice and super clean. I've been to plenty of Humane Society's and Volunteered at several as well and this is probably one of the best! Every Employee was super helpful and friendly. They definitely love each of the animals like their own and take pride in making sure each pet find the right home. The foster to adopt program is awesome as well and really allows you to see if the pet your interested in is the right fit. If we ever need another fur baby Woodford will be our first stop.
