We had a great time with the weekend brunch and bowling special on a rainy Sunday, the weekend before New Year's Eve. The place was fairly busy, likely due to dreary weather and schools are still on holiday break. We had brunch and I tried the chicken and waffles with 2 over easy eggs (cooked perfectly) and I plan to order this again in the future. I also had a virgin spicy Bloody Mary and it was terrific. My friends had orders of weinerschnitzel, breakfast sandwiches with ham or bacon on a croissant with egg, and biscuits and gravy. The feedback on the Americano coffee was A+. Everyone was well fed and pleased. We had made an online reservation for a bowling lane and dallied until it was time to head to the counter to check in, grab shoes, and confirm our lane assignment. All of this was such an easy process and seamless on a busy day. We bowled for an hour, returned our shoes, and settled our tabs. We then headed to the basement entertainment area to snag a $1 duck from the claw machine -- where "everyone is a winner!" Very nice weekend outing to catch up with my friends, have some fun, and wonderful food and drink. Looking forward to return visits soon! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Venue is clean and well maintained. Plenty of easy parking near the entrances with well lit areas and signage.

Wow! I had always wanted to go to Vernon Lanes and finally went with a bunch of friends to celebrate my birthday. The staff here is SO friendly, kind, and accommodating. They were responsive to all my questions, made us fabulous drinks the night we went, and everything was affordable. The vintage feel here is fabulous and it is definitely a treat to visit this piece of Louisville history.Drinks here are affordable and they offer everything from well drinks to craft cocktails.I heard great things about the food!10/10!

Visited yesterday with a group of friends and it was an outstanding experience. We came in for the weekend brunch/bowling special and it did not disappoint. I had the breakfast burrito with pork carnitas and jalapenos, covered in their smoky salsa and it was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. The staff made us feel like they were happy that we were there and that they wanted us to enjoy our meal, our bowling, and our time in their historic location. (Don't miss checking our their lower level with pool tables, darts, pin ball and plenty of space for events!)I definitely plan to make Vernon Lanes a regular stop in my rotation of great places to eat and play in Louisville!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Vernon Lanes over the weekend. I've been wanting to try it for a while and we finally made it. We had a lane reserved online and it was quick and easy to get shoes and get checked in. We ordered food while we were bowling and my grilled cheese and chips were delicious! There's also a downstairs that has some pool tables and darts, and it looked like you could get food and drinks down there as well. We can't wait to go back!

Vernon has always had friendly staff and food was consistent until our last two visits. We ordered the shrimp po'boy both visits and the shrimp were tough and over cooked. The fries on our last visit were cold like they came straight out of a refrigerator. The servers acted bothered anytime we ordered more drinks. The worst was being charged a group rate for 4 people which was considerably more than for only 2. This place is going downhill, hopefully they can turn it around.

This was a fun night with my colleagues. Vernon Lanes is a small bowling alley with around 8 lanes, a nice menu and bar service. On the bottom floor is a wide open bar that would be good for events. We had 8 people and were given one lane because one was out of commission. I didn't mind because we got to bowl just enough. Everyone ordered drinks including beer, margaritas and other mixed drinks. The margarita wasn't great but it was fine since I only had one. They keep water out so people can self serve. The facility is unique and the staff was friendly. You reserve the lane by the hour so if you have just a few people you can bowl a good bit. We also had food. I had the schnitzel sandwich which was awesome. Others tried different items with varying degrees of satisfaction. The person who ordered the nachos said they were super spicy. The shrimp po boy was a hit.

We had a great time. Great people, great service, and great food to boot. The friendly staff helped us secure two lanes for our party on an over-booked night, which made all the difference. The food was surprisingly good. As one member of our party, put it, "this food is much nicer than it needed to be." You'll have a great time at Vernon Lanes.

Disappointing Experience at Vernon Lanes in Louisville KY - Never AgainWe decided to visit Vernon Lanes on a Sunday morning for brunch. Having been there before and enjoyed the food, we thought it would be a good idea to return. Unfortunately, our experience this time was anything but pleasant. We were the first two customers as they opened, and our initial interaction was with a bartender whose attire was, to put it mildly, revealing and unprofessional. Lets just say that she gave new meaning to "Belly Up to the Bar" Inappropriate for a restaurant. She asked us what we wanted three times instead of greeting us properly--something as simple as "Two for brunch?" would have sufficed. After seating us, she informed us that we needed to provide a credit card in order to place a food order or pay when our food came out. I found this policy to be both unnecessary and offensive, especially given that we were the only customers in the restaurant. I am not a flight risk. When I expressed my concerns, she sent over a man who identified himself as the manager.Rather than explaining the policy professionally, and offering to waive the requirement, he immediately went on a defensive rant, justifying the pre-payment requirement by saying that when they have 500 people in the venue, they can't keep track of everyone's tabs. Fair enough--but at that moment, the place was empty except for us. Instead of handling the situation diplomatically, and listening to his customer, he became rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, repeatedly talking over me and escalating the situation. At one point, I reminded him that I was his customer and I thought that we deserved at least some level of respect. His response was . . ."You're not a customer yet." That was the final straw. We got up and left while he continued on his rant and talking. He definitely should not be in a management position!I dine out frequently and have never encountered such a policy--or such poor customer service. This was easily one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant, and I will not be returning. I strongly urge others to reconsider before dining here--no one should be made to feel like a criminal just to enjoy a meal.

Went to bowl for something to do and found this cool spot, when we came in the bar staff did not seem friendly and hardly spoke to us at all when we asked for things. We loved the vibe and bowling was super fun, in the middle of us bowling they turned the lights all on and turned the tvs off and there was still plenty of time to play. If the staff was a little more friendly i would've rated 5 stars.

Great Burgers and service! The atmosphere is fun with the bowling alley and the clean surroundings. The staff is great and there is ample parking. Full line up of beers on tap. The downstairs is a hidden gem in Louisville. Once the area developes a little more the crowds will find Vernon's a must visit spot.
