Not a bad supermarket that I have been to a few times when in the area. They have a nice meat department and the people are friendly when I have shopped here. It is a smaller store so the crowds will not effect you too much

Abla Cubano? Well, you will feel like you can speak Spanish after you eat this tasty sandwich . Delicious barbecue, perfect mustard, cheese and a pickle on toasty warm bread. I've never been to Havana, but weirdly feel like I just got back from there.

I came here to pick up some really good (not marvelous or mind-blowing) Cuban sandwiches. Had my customer service experience been better I would consider going back but the lady making the sandwiches wasn't friendly so in the future if I want a 'really good' sandwich I'll go somewhere else. You might have a better experience than I did so I encourage you to give it a shot. My boss sent me to this Valu Market to pick up our lunch during a manufacturer event this weekend. He called ahead to make sure that we'd have an accurate order and that it would be ready when I strolled in. Our order wasn't ready and the lady preparing them said something odd about and then instructed me to go do some shopping or something. I wandered around the store to see what they had and was excited by the variety of Fanta flavors (I grew up in Germany so I'm used to having a full spectrum of Fanta flavors, not just orange) and a decent Asian section. When I wandered back to pick up the sandwiches the lady had disappeared and the manager appeared out of no-where to help me and apologize. I'm going to write the one lady off as having a bad day or something because everyone else at the store was friendly and helpful. Louisville has such a rich and diverse food culture that I feel confident I can find an exciting lunch elsewhere next time.

My dad is known for finding hole in the wall places to eat, but when he told us to go grab Cuban sandwiches from here, my sister and I looked at each with THAT, 'the hell we will' look. When we were kids this place was so dirty and dark, neither of us wanted to risk it. He kept saying they had write ups in the paper about it and he has had several of them. We both looked at him skeptical, as we all know parents will lie to you to get you to do what they want you to do, no matter how old either of you get. I did not delay in looking at yelp before I even agreed to it, and sure enough, glowing reviews of their great Cuban Sandwiches. The whole drive over, my sister is telling me she can't do, she won't eat from such a dirty place. We go in and find that it is now a bright clean store. It could have been a five star but some of the produce was so overly priced, it seemed ridiculous. They made up on it for variety of food. It was like any big name grocery, but on the shelves there was one of the largest selections of ethnic foods I have ever seen under one roof. It covered the globe and not just with small shelf space dedicated to just one nationality. They did a good job sandwiching it between the daily staples Americans gravitate too, so you were exposed to all kinds of fun stuff. We were sorry it was my last day or I would have been making spring rolls for them. The selection of rice noodles was far past anything I have seen in Portland. Well played Valu Market, well played. As my dad then spent the rest of my three hours in Louisville saying, "told you so". The Cuban sandwich was really good, it came from the back deli where they make a variety of sandwiches to order. These are hot off their griddle, with pulled pork, ham, swiss, mustard and pickle on bread that tastes like it is baked there. I am not a fan of pulled pork, but it was good, but got kind of rich quick. They cost $5.99 but are piled full of meet. I would say they are about the size of a footlong from Subway. Also, they had fish tanks full of Tilapia swimming around. I was impressed with how spotless the tanks were and the fish all looked healthy, I have seen tanks in San Fransisco you couldn't see through, let alone see the fish clearly.

Shopped here earlier. Worst check out cashier ever. C carried on three conversations with others while trying to check me out paid no attention to what he was doing. Unprofessional. 'Update March 21 2018'. Still unhappy with grocery checkouts BUT the deli steam table in rear right corner of store is excellent! Full plate lunch $5.99. Plus on demand Cuban Sandwiches. And much more. PLUS a Postal Service USPS in-Store. Not quite full service but darn good enough to handle my shipping for my Etsy shop!-L.E.

I always enjoy taking a stroll through Value Market. Like others have mentioned, the grocery is a treasure chest of international food items. They have things I've never seen in Louisville before. I always open the small fridge in the produce section to look at the Durian fruit. It's the only place I've seen it (other than on the TV show Chopped). They have a good selection of craft beer which is nice. Every so often they have a meat sale and you can normally buy 5 big packages for around 20 dollars. The store is neat and clean and the cashiers and butchers are extremely helpful. The deli counter serves excellent Cuban sandwiches. Crisp and chewy bread with pulled pork, ham, mustard, Swiss and mustard served warm. The last time I was in the pulled pork was a little fatty but that's the first time I've ever encountered that here.

Besides their vast international options they also have a deli. I never ventured back there until recently and myyyyy their comfort food is delish. I love their chicken tenders and side options, it's fresh and hot. They have daily specials everyday too. I have tried their infamous Cuban sandwiches and they're good, not anything too amazing but it does the job. Stop by to pick up a quick lunch and grocery shop.

I shop here often because they have a vast selection of spices that are reasonable and fresh. Each Valu-Market in the city has it's own unique personality. This Valu-Market is what I call the "International" value market. They have every thing imaginable from Asian food, to Indian, Mexican, Cuban, Pakistani, you name it they have it. It is one of the only places I know of in Louisville where you can purchase a Durian (Just don't take it on a Tarc Bus (Google it and laugh)).I've never been disappointed with their selection and am amazed at how much good stuff they can pack in such a small store. My only complaint is that they really haven't been keeping a lot of the spices I like in stock lately. I use a lot of Indian spices, curries, and etc. They also have a great selection of Chili peppers too. And the Deli is full of international delights as well. Plus when you shop at Valu-Market you are doing your share of keeping Louisville Wierd (it's a locally owned independent grocery store)

A coworker told us about this hidden gem having an awesome Cuban sandwich back in the deli! They were not lying! There are no tables or chairs so it's a "to go" style. It was delicious and served warm and fresh! Worth the drive to try a new spot and enjoy the diverse options the store has to offer!
