I have given this area four separate chances. Each time has been a huge disappointment. But yesterday was the worst. We were having my son's graduation party at the EAST group area. Website describes the area and all of the amenities you get while there. And it is by reservation only. Supposedly. We had people pulling up and parking in our lot in order to use the bathroom before leaving. I asked one man to leave that had parked in our area, and he called me a Karen and told me to shut up and leave. I took a picture of his license plate but never reported him. There is also a group area for campers down a ways, and they came in droves to use our bathroom. Some of the boys from the group site were being very loud and obnoxious at the restrooms, horsing around, and we asked them to keep it down. They gestured that I was crazy, and I said, "Okay, I wasn't being rude but now you are so you can go ahead and move on." These brats must've went back and told their parents that we told them they couldn't use the bathroom bc much later their parents came and confronted us. I explained the situation. A little while after that, two park workers showed up. One of the men was quiet and respectful. The other was very rude, accusing, and condescending. He would interrupt me, told me to calm down even as I calmly explained the situation, asked me if the boys we had told to move on had been "American" tho he wasn't trying to be racist? (I'm still not sure what that was about...did he think we ran off kids because of their ethnicity? Or does he think other ethnicities aren't American? Btw, the kids were white) He later denied he told me to calm down, attempting to gas light, but even my husband heard him say it to me! They insisted we had to allow others to use the bathroom and that's just the way it "has to be". We paid a lot to reserve the area so we could have it to ourselves. And the website does NOT specify that it is a shared bathroom in the description. What if these other guests cause damage? Would I be responsible? And why don't they specify that on their website? So ultimately, you're paying a lot of money for a shelter and some overgrown lawn to pitch your tent in...Then the obnoxious worker proceeded to make up an excuse to investigate our area, saying that a couple of the shelters posts had holes in them and they needed replaced, they just wanted to check them out. THEN said, someone hung lanterns on them 6 or 7 years ago and burned holes into some of the posts. I wonder why the poles had needed replaced for over 6 years and they just then needed to look at them? Then searched our area while they faked looking at the posts. They treated me like a criminal in front my guests, crashed our party, and embarrassed me in front of my family and friends and children. The quiet, nicer worker went back and sat in the truck after a few minutes. The obnoxious one continued to patronize us for ten minutes more or so. Worst experience ever! I paid too much money to be harassed, name called, and persecuted. Never again! We didn't even go back for the second night we had reserved it for!

This is really a nice campground. The roads are asphalt. Easy access to the loops. The sites are easy to back into and level or close to level. Water fill stations and a nice dump station. All the staff are friendly. The online booking is easy. Well maintained. Nice shower/bath houses in each loop. The sites offer more privacy than a lot of other campgrounds.

Very beautiful area, lots of hiking and a beach or two you can go and swim, lay out at. Dogs must be on a leash and our pups had a good time. Camping spots are mostly shaded and workers in golf carts were helpful and always asked if we needed anything.

Great little campground that is perfect for family trips. I have heard so many times "my family wouldn't go for camping because...". When I tell them about Twin Knobs nearly all agree it would fit their families perfectly. Great sites that are large and offer enough privacy, full showers and restroom facilities in every loop, a lake that is great for fishing/lounging/swimming/boating, hiking trails, & safe areas to take a family bike ride. This year we did notice an extreme amount of poison ivy on the trails and near camp sites so be careful if you are alergic.

What a lovely place to camp! Only a 90 minute drive from Lexington you find forest, beaches, hiking trails, Cave Run Lake, and this lovely campground. We were in loop D and every campsite had raked gravel on which to pop your tents (nice flat surface). I was pleasantly surprised - never been to a campsite like that before. The bathrooms were all individual, family-style which was really nice. At peak times, you might have to wait to use the restroom but having a private room for your bathing/toilet needs is really nice. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and stocked with body wash. Our campsite was lake-adjacent, so we could hike down a small hill and be on the rocks at the lake - not the beach, but we made the best of it! If we had wanted to go to the beach it would have been a 4-5 min drive within the campground. I can't wait to get back out there - highly recommend this campground!

This place is great for families, friends, or couples who want to go camping with some of the extra amenities. This place had a large beach, lodge that sells firewood and camp snacks, basketball court and showers! The grounds for your site is groomed and the place is relatively quiet. Perfect place for a weekend or a longer stay. The wildlife is great too. Saw a snake near the waterfront and the biggest spider I have ever seen in the wild (terrified the poop out of my wife)

SO CLEAN! stayed on loop A for a 3 day weekend and will definitely be back. by far the cleanest campground we have stayed at. the "family style" bathrooms are such a great idea. every camp site seems so private thanks to all the trees...which also means shady. (also means bugs though). great campground for a dog also! very spacious

This place was a last minute thing when I found out some out of town friends were camping there. We met them for a boat ride at Cave Run Lake and then headed the campsite afterwards. The guards were well informed on how to get us to the proper campsite and it is also marked very well. The campsite was a camper site with electricity but no water and it is a large site. It also had a fire pit, picnic table, and enough room to put up a tent next to the RV. It was also a very private location. You could see other campsites through the trees but definitely far enough away for privacy. Wood and ice are also available at the guard shack or plan on bringing some bundles with you. I was told there are shower facilities but I did not camp there so I did not seek them out. I would definitely bring other friends there to camp. There is a lot of stuff to do in the general area.

Best option to a "real" beach. Calm, clean waters. Perfect for the kiddos. Perfect staycation.

We loved the camp sites but management was a nightmare. So incredibly rude! Rules are fine but there's no need to be rude, and threaten police for every tiny thing, a warning or just being informative is an option! Zilpo was harder to get to but the experience was much better!!!
