What a fun experience for my 9 year old son! He is a novice- basically no culinary experience which was completely fine! I purchased a Groupon last minute for a Pizza class. He had a great time! They kneaded dough, added the toppings, and cooked the pizza. While the pizza was cooking, they decorated boxes. We brought our pizza home and it was delicious! Super cute and fun!

What a fantastic experience for me and my kiddo. We made home made ravioli. The class lasted about 1.5 hour. This is great for young kids or even older kids. We will be back again for another class. The chefs were super friendly and made it easy for everyone to follow. This exceeded our expectations! Excellent work tonight!!

I found this cute little kids cooking school over the summer when I was looking for camps for my kids. I'm a stay at home mom and summertime can get a bit long once we have been to the movies to see everything we wanted to see and made numerous trips to the pool and been on vacation. There are only so many days we all want to sit at home and stare at each other and frankly I need them out sometimes so that I can get caught back up on the laundry that seems to never end! My oldest daughter was signed up for a camp that got canceled at the last minute because they didn't have enough kids sign up and panic set quickly in because I needed that week to myself! I had been planing all of the things I was going to get done and none of them were going to happen if I had to find ways to entertain her for yet another week! Enter Turnip the Beet! I googled kids cooking classes in Louisville or something to that effect because she had been interested in learning to cook and even though I let her help in the kitchen some I'm much too particular and never let her do enough (I need to work on that) It just so happened that Turnip the Beet had space in their International Cooking Camp for the week that I needed something for my kiddo to do. SCORE! The offer both a half day option and a full day option and for this time I just took the half day option both to save a little money and because I knew she was going to be about the youngest one in the camp since the age range went from 7-12 and she was just 7. After a day or two I was wishing I had sprung for the full day for her. She loved it. They focused on a different country each day and made several dishes from that country and got to taste them and bring things home to share with us. She's a little bit of a picky eater so I won't say that she loved everything but she did taste everything which I loved because sometimes that's a struggle with her and she still enjoyed making everything. She had so much fun at camp that we actually just had her birthday party there last week. We chose the pizza party but there are several other choices as well. She could have up to 10 kids, including herself and they each got to make homemade yeast dough for their own pizza crust. Then they got to top it any way they wanted and bake them. They got to decorate cupcakes to eat and color on their pizza boxes too. The best part for me was that I didn't have to do anything but show up. Which when your kiddo has a birthday a week before Christmas can be absolutely priceless. If you're looking for summer camps or Birthday Party ideas or maybe even a family cooking class, you can't go wrong with Turnip the Beet!
