In honor of the start of Latinx Heritage Month, I wanted to pick up some sweet treats from a panaderia for my family and support a Latinx-owned business. That's how I found my way to Tortilleria Guanajuato. This panaderia is in the same strip mall as Supermercado Guanajuato near Whipps Mill Road. And what I found inside was a bevy of pan dulce sure to bring a smile.I had to pick up a concha. This had a crumbly, cookie-like top on fluffy sweet dough. I also enjoyed the bow-tie shaped corbata, as well as some cream-filled pastries. And I got some sprinkle and M&M-covered cookies for my kids. I got a full bag of pan dulce for just about $10. I also noticed other breads and tortilla chips for sale that I'd like to get on a return trip. Tortilleria Guanajuato also serves ice cream, cakes, juices, paletas and more. This is a gem. I will be back, during Latinx Heritage Month and after!

This store is just one of 4 spots in the plaza owned and under the same umbrella that is supermercado guanajuato #1. There is the panaderia, market, etc. The plaza is tucked off of Whipps Mills Road around the corner from Louisville Tea Company. Now, I have been to LTC a BUNCH of times, biked in the neighborhood, and driven past this place unknowingly. A recent post in a Facebook group sparked my attention and I knew I wanted to check it out. We stopped by early Saturday morning and were the only ones there which made it easy to browse and take a moment. We combed over the selections and after given some guidance by the cashier started picking out buns.Let me first say that the buns are HUGE. Each one very sizeable and shareable. We picked out 8 buns to take home and share. They have now lasted us 3 days and still very tasty. I also want to add that 8 buns cost us $9.36. What?!?! When my husband handed me the receipt, I glanced down expecting to see a price that matched the size and portions of the items selected. I was actually shocked and had him verify it was the actual receipt!Every item picked did not disappoint and to be honest the glazed raisin and cinnamon bun is going to pair very nicely with a chai tea from up the road next time I stop by.They did have sweet cold and ice cream options as well. Had it not been mildly snowy and 24 degrees, I would have probably considered trying some. But I will leave that for warmer weather and have yet another reason to stop by and try some goodies!
