This is one of the best events in Lexington! There's always a great band performing live music and lots of people around to socialize with. The pavilion is there to stand under in case of rain and there are lots of bars and restaurants in the area for keeping the fun going afterwards. I really wish this event was on Friday so I could enjoy it a little more. Also drinks are a little pricey. But still, I keep going, week after week.

Louisville has Forth Street live, Lexington has Thursday Night Live. TNL what many of us call it, is in the Fifth Third Pavilion at Cheapside in downtown Lexington. Every year there seems to be a nice little addition. This year, the two times that I stopped in, I noticed a lot more food trucks in the surrounding area. Parking is always scarce, except the parking lot that charges about the same rate as a Uber ride to my house. If you're interested in free live bands, do be sure to bring a lawn chair if you want to sit and enjoy the music.I personally dislike TNL. Too crowded, too many short skirts and people who obviously can't handle liquor. I do like nearby Parlay Social and Stagger Inn. So both times I've been dragged through TNL, it was only with the promise to start or end up at one of the two.

What is it that draws people to congregate in hordes on the street, drinking? Is it tribal? I don't get it. It makes going downtown on a Thursday night difficult due to the scarcity of parking, although I've learned the secret to finding a space which, obviously, I won't divulge here. Large crowds, food trucks, free music, people watching -- if that's your thing, you'll love it. (I'd much rather relax at one of our great cocktail bars for a libation or two, chatting with friends. Often, they have few people as everyone seems to be out on 3rd Street.)

To be perfectly honest i only come here every week to get kettle corn and maybe a slice of pizza. I love down lex but this event seems to attract some strange folks. Overall the feel is nice and to see events like this in any town is good. The goal is to get people downtown and they have succeeded because the crowd grows weekly. However with larger crowds brings drama. I watched a visibly drunk guy purchasing drinks and 15 mins later that same guy was in handcuffs.

A great event to hear free live music and you will always run into about 20 people that you know! There are a few food trucks and you can grab a bite to eat or a drink at them or at Cheapside. They have tables out front and a counter at the side of the restaurant where you can order. Most people come visit with their friends while the music is playing, if you are going for the concert, you can bring a folding chair to set up near the band.Henry Clay's Public House usually has a great band playing after TNL.

It's been awhile since I've made the trip downtown to participate in the glorious Thur Night Live of Lex. All the who's who, the has beens and soon to be's were in full effect as one could expect for Lexington's finest attempt at an outdoor venue such as 4th street live in Louisville. There are so many people that you can hardly move and the air ceases to move making it a very steamy place to be with longs lines for drinks. It appears that there is a new culture of bikers in Lexington now that you see more and more of and attitudes galore resound as well. They circle like sharks playing their music on their led adorned glowing bikes as well as sit and posture for the right time to pounce on an unsuspecting party or just ride off music blaring and circle once again. If you like to people watch and don't mind being bumped around then this is a good place to be from time to time OR if you want to be seen and think you have what it takes to mingle with Lexington's finest come on down to Thursday night Live.
