Got to love the twin of you grew up in Irvine. Always good service and everything tastes good. Lots of memories from hanging out there as a kid in the eighties. Still set with the grandkids and eat while watching traffic go by and listening to the radio. Lol. They don't get it but me and Belinda do.

Just happened to catch out of the corner of our eyes as we drove by. Made the turn around and glad we did. We were looking for some local ice cream or something of the sort. We both got shakes; and they were very good! I had strawberry and they specifically asked if I wanted real strawberries or just flavored syrup. I went with the real deal and they had them cut up into small sizes so you can still get through the straw the wife's chocolate shake they asked if wanted made with chocolate ice cream or vanilla with flavoring. Very friendly staff! I would recommend the stop. They also had a nice variety of sandwiches and fried foods besides the ice cream. Very clean; outside seating only.

I am a sucker for the 1950's era ice cream shops. So mom and pop. I like the eclectic food menu mix that backs up these vestiges of a by gone time. The Twin does not disappoint. It has been around for decades. When you ask locals no one gives me an exact date. Also when you ask about the name you get different responses as well. Some say that it is named for the twin cities of Irvine and Ravenna others says that there were a lot of twins in the neighborhood when it first opened. My money is on the former as opposed to the latter story.Regardless the place is a local staple. Every August for years I have made an annual pilgrimage to the twin. I go for the soft serve ice cream. In years past I have gotten the cones. This year I went with the cup. I am getting older and it is just to hard to eat it before the ice cream melts. (Not a fan of the brain freeze if you eat to fast)The place is carry out and I usually eat in my car or lean against the car and strike up a conversation. Glad these old places persist. One of the things I look for in these old restaurants is cleanliness and maintenance of the building. On my visit today everything looked clean and well maintained. The Twin always has a steady business during my August visits. Not sure about the rest of the year.I have heard that the place has the same chili dog recipe that it had when it opened. When in the Irvine/Ravenna area stop by The Twin get you a cone (or cup) of ice cream with a chili dog. If it is a pretty day in August I may see you. I will be the old guy leaning against his car with a smile on his face big enough to transport you back to your childhood.

Great ice cream and the owners/employees are very nice!! It's also very cheap, for a cup of ice cream and 2 large milkshakes, it was $9.00. I recommend for sure! They were also very fast with getting it out to us.

This place has been around for a long time. The milkshake here is sweeter than most, which is nice. Not really any place to eat besides in your car. My advice is to stop here for dessert. Bring cash, as there is an extra charge for credit.

I give it five stars for what it is. It's a nice little place to grab a bite that still has a little bit of 50's era charm hanging around. You can honestly get better food elsewhere, but you'll be hard pressed to find better soft serve ice cream and milkshakes anywhere in town. Really no dining area, it's a "walk up and order" kind of place - and be prepared to eat in your car.
