The Hill House was the perfect spot to stay! Lisa Marie was the best host and pulled out all the stops. We really enjoyed staying here - it's in a great location very close to Maker's Mark, and not far from Bardstown. Rudy James is the cutest "security" dog and gave us our fill of dog cuddles. We stayed in the Oak Room and it was a very spacious room, well apportioned, and the bed was very comfortable. The room only has a tub and hand shower - we didn't realize that until reading a review before leaving, but that was okay. Despite all rooms being full, the room was quiet and we got a great night's rest. The breakfast was outstanding - far beyond anything I ever expected - and set us up for a great day.Lisa Marie has lots of great local knowledge and helped the other guests staying longer with dinner recommendations/reservations and more. I wish we had stayed here longer, and definitely will next time we hit the Bourbon Trail.

We recently stayed at the Hill House and it was our very first bed and breakfast. I will tell you it did not disappoint! The room was really pretty and Lisa was just the nicest woman. She greeted us with a smile and made us feel right at home. We had a nice relaxing evening sitting out on the back patio having some great conversation with her husband. The breakfast the next morning was so good! So much better than a hotel breakfast! It was not only delish it was healthy and kept us going until dinner! Next time we do the bourbon trail we will definitely stay again!

The roads leading to Hill House are winding and uh, hilly, but the welcome we received there was worth the drive. Our host gave good directions, and even offered to come and find us if we got lost! When we arrived, we were greeted with a short tour and history of the place along with wine and cheese. The Hill House was once very dilapidated, but it has been completely gutted and remodeled. Walking around inside, it is easy to forget the age of the home because everything is shiny and new. Anyone with an interest in rehabbing buildings will have fun going through the scrapbooks of the project. Our accomodations were very comfortable, and my girlfriend was apparently really impressed by their Christmas decorations. Breakfast was hearty and tasty country fare. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hill House, not least because Maker's Mark is just a few miles down the road.

I would very much love to give Lisa Marie at the Hill House 10 stars, alas it only allows for 5. Upon arrival, you notice the gorgeous landscape, and should you happen to stop anywhere in Kentucky, "y'all" will most assuredly be treated with a smile, as well as a warm welcome. When you do get to The Hill House, Lisa Marie, and her sweet pooch, Rudy James, will be at the door, again with a smile and warm welcome. The tour of the house will most certainly be given, as well as recommendations on the area attractions. In the evening, there will be wine and cheese, again with warm conversation. I must recommend the Oak room, as we visited that, as well as the Thoroughbred room. While the later is quite comfortable, with vaulted ceilings and a beautiful bed, the shining star of the former really is the bathroom. The hot tub/spa tub is large enough for two adults to fit comfortably, a welcome bout of relaxation after a long day of sipping bourbon. In the morning, well, I wish I had words for how stunning our breakfast looked, which can only be outshined by the taste. Lisa Marie truly has something special here. We have nothing but wonderful memories from the Hill House. Just go there. Really... It won't disappoint.
