Gift wrapped finished belt

I've made two needlepoint belts with the help of Eye of the Needle and they have been so helpful both times! The women in store have taken the time to help me customize the belts and to teach me how to needlepoint and do the finishing stitch. The belts were leathered at their store and both came back on time and in great condition. When I ran out of string for the belt, the store mailed me extra so I could finish it. Now that we live about 90 minutes from Lexington, the store assisted me in mailing the finished needlepoint to them and then mailing back the completed belt after the leather had been done. The finished belt came to my house wrapped beautifully and my husband loves it!

This has become my favorite needlepoint shop in Lex. Down to earth, this shop will quickly personalize any in stock item for you. They have best selection of self-finish items I have seen. The in store canvas selection is incredible! I have have several custom canvases painted, and all have been just perfect. If I have a question about a fiber choice or need some inspiration for a different stitch, this shop always gladly helps. Slip to the very back and find a nice sale/clearance section! If you want to score some brownie points, bring in a few treats for the shop dogs (Pete's my favorite, just don't tell the others).

I picked up needlepointing in college because all girls in sororities would make them for their boyfriends. I started out small with keychains and then finally made a belt. I've probably made 3 belts and over 20 keychains. I made keychains for all my bridesmaids this summer. With some concentration, I was able to finish all 5 and a dog collar in 2 months. They have several options for leathering but I tend to just stick with the standard brown leather. Since they've moved across the street, their store is much more organized and stocked with so many awesome designs. Everything I go in, I find myself wanting to make 10 more things. I will say it is a pretty expensive hobby. You first pay for the design and materials. Once you're finished, you'll come back to pay for the leathering. I took it upon myself to learn how to do the finishing stitch because that will cost you, too. When it's not busy, you're able to get your things in 2-4 weeks. I once waited 6-8 weeks for leathering because they were so busy, so be aware of when things start to pick up.

I've been needlepointing since high school and have only gotten my patterns from Eye of the Needle! Their staff is very personable and helpful as well- and will be able to teach you the stitches if you've never needlepointed before. The lady who owns EOTN does the needlepoint painting herself and she does amazing work. She is not there every single day the store is open so if you're looking to get initials painted on something pre-made then you may want to call ahead to be sure. There is a large variety of pre-made patterns for belts, keychains, stockings, etc, but you can also order a custom made pattern as well. EOTN will also leather your needlepoint when you've finished. They are a busy store, so expect it to take 2-3 weeks +.

Please do not use The Eye of the Needle. I sent my Belt Canvas back to Eye of the Needle back in May, todays September 15th, they've had my belt for 5 months.I was promised it would be completed and now Cheryrl is returning to me unflinished after 5 months. All I've gottn are lies and excuses.Do your self a favor, go somewhere else. JB

Kind and courteous owners! I've been going elsewhere before coming here. Where the staff was stuck up and rude. It was a breath of fresh air finding this place! At this point I have done 7 stockings, 2 belts, 3 key rings and a pillow here! I'm very pleased with everything so far!

HORRIBLE Customer service. They mailed a belt to me to Wyoming and charged me the day the belt left their store. It was $138.00! However, the belt was stolen or lost in the mail. Eye of the Needle ONLY insured the package for 50.00. I filed a police report, I put up flyers trying to find the belt, but to no avail. I filed a report with the US Postal Service to at least try to get $50.00. The worst part is that the Eye of the Needle wouldn't work with me at all to come to a compromise to get another belt! ZERO HELP. IT was their fault for under insuring, and I never received the product. However, the owner, CHERYL, hung up on me when I got upset b/c I had hoped they'd do something for me to give me another belt. I was horrified by their behavior and lack of empathy. They said it was my problem once it left their store. Ridiculous behavior!

The two belts I ordered to stitch were both poorly designed - the latest looked totally unfinished. For the second time I had to take the belt to another store to be fixed. They too agreed - very poorly done and of course I had to pay extra (again) to have another canvas painter fix it. For items this pricey I don't need to a third strike to move on. Also - no response from their customer service when I reached out after receiving the poorly designed belt. Very rude. Would not recommend at all.

Very nice needlepoint canvases at a fair price. I highly recommend this shop! Lots of needlepoint canvases; took a couple of weeks to receive my order, but worth the wait!
