Stone Fences Tours provides a great Kentucky experience. Four of us took the Bourbon Passport tour and had a great time. Jerry our tour guide knew everything about central Kentucky, distilleries, and bourbon. Couldn't have had a better guide. Jerry picked three distilleries in and around Lexington and shuttled us around expertly to make all the tour times. We landed at a fantastic spot for lunch (included) that had several great selections of restaurants. We ended up the day with cocktails (also included) at the beautiful Castle and Key distillery. I can't say enough about Jerry's ability to make such arrangements, especially as the plague raged on. If you want to see and learn about Kentucky and the bourbon scene, give Stone Fences Tours a call. We're already planning our next tour of Horse Farms, distilleries, breweries, and wineries with Jerry.

A passion for Kentucky history encouraged the local owners to turn their avid interest into a business. What differentiates Stone Fences from other tour companies is their concentration on the historical aspect of the Bluegrass, peppered with a bit of bourbon. Your journey begins at the new downtown Lexington Visitors Center where you are transported in a premium van to places that have been a distinct part of the fabric of Lexington's storied past. Recently, on a trip to Lawrenceburg, we visited the T. B. Ripy house and were treated to a tour by a 7th generation Riply descendant who is thoughtfully preserving this gilded mansion, circa 1888. At the time, Ripy was the owner of the largest independent bourbon distiller in the world, that later became the Wild Turkey Distillery. Appropriately, we then traveled to Wild Turkey for a tour and tasting. Lunch at Heavens to Betsy for one of their terrific sandwich creations followed. Choose from a variety of jaunts into Kentucky history and spend some time in its amazing past.

The Ripy House and Wild Turkey tour in Lawrenceburg is a fascinating look at the history of bourbon in central Kentucky since the late 19th century. The hosts at the Ripy house - the great-grandsons of Thomas Ripy who once was one of the largest producers of bourbon in the world - showed us their magnificent 1888 family house that is being restored. The history of this area is deep and a blast to learn. Jerry and Hope are wonderful students of the history of this area, and are equally knowledgeable and gracious hosts. Guaranteed you will learn a lot and have a lot of fun - both for those who live in the area and for those visiting this beautiful land of bourbon and horse farms.

Very personable and knowledgeable hosts who have a passion for the Bluegrass' past and have an invested interest in its present. Hope and Jerry are kind, intelligent, and entertaining. The tours are relaxed and fascinating! Even as a Kentucky native, I had no idea there was so much to discover about my home state. The hosts deliver the history in a way that make me feel like it's story time at school. I highly recommend this tour company for anyone who love history, bourbon, beer, horses, and/or wine!
