State Line Restaurant

Exactly what I want in a little greasy spoon diner. Since I moved from NJ in 2016, one of the biggest things I've missed (besides Wawa) is a good diner - the concept just hasn't hit the mainstream out here in the Cincinnati/NKY area. With a couple of exceptions (shoutout to Diane's!) it's just something I've had to live without - until discovering State Line. We drove about 30 minutes from Kentucky to get here, and wow I'm glad I did. This was the exact experience I was hoping for. Throwback, classic, and unpretentious décor, friendly staff, and food that is awesomely high in calories but tastes fantastic. We went early on a weekend morning and barely got a seat. We ordered our food and started people-watching - every slice of life was represented there, and it felt like going back in time in the best of ways.Loved this place and love the fact that they are doing their thing and holding onto what a local restaurant experience should really feel like. Five whole stars, and will 100% be back.

I recently visited The State Line restaurant on a Sunday morning, and despite the expected crowd, I had a great experience. Yes, we had to wait, but that's understandable given the time and the popularity of the place. I can say the wait was definitely worth it--the food was delicious, and the pricing was quite reasonable.A couple of standout dishes were the biscuits and gravy, which were absolutely delicious, and the hashbrowns, which I customized with mushrooms, peppers, and onions. Both were fantastic and really hit the spot.However, I do have to mention the bar stools--they were very uncomfortable, especially for someone like me who's 6'5" tall. This is the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.One more tip: the space is limited, so I recommend getting there before the crowd to avoid a long wait. The service was good, and the coffee was even better, which made the overall experience very enjoyable.Overall, I highly recommend stopping here for breakfast. Just be mindful of the seating if you're tall!

There's never a bad time to go to one of the finest greasy spoons I know of. Even though we've long since moved out of Indiana we still come back here from time to time all the same. We've been here so many times over the years I'm not gonna go too in depth. I got the "Homestyle Favourites" breakfast which came with 2 eggs (over medium), 1 breakfast meat (Cajun Goetta for me), home fries, and toast with pepper jelly. The eggs were fine as were the home fries. The Cajun Goetta is always a must get for me as it's the best Goetta that I've ever eaten from anywhere. It's Goetta with a nice kick. Also not to be forgotten is their pepper jelly which is epic on toast. All of this great food at a very affordable price. Stellar place.

Took my sister for a birthday breakfast and it was yummy. This is a gem in Greendale Indiana. It's a diner with delicious food. The staff makes you feel like family. I got 2 eggs over easy with rye toast goetta and hash browns. The hash browns had bacon in it. Genius. My sister got biscuits with sausage gravy. What a great place!

Per my other reviews this is a good place for diner food. Never had a bad meal here and they just added serving rootbeer floats. A must try as they use IBC rootbeer.

Food was fresh. Service was a little slow for the amount of people in there. Ambience was laid backIt's been a long time (years) since I was charged a transaction fee on a DEBIT card.

Stopped on the way back to Indy from the casino and glad we did! I got the chef salad and my husband got the hungry man special with an al a carte pancake and goetta and I got the chef salad. Everything was great, but the pancake was phenomenal! I would come back just for the pancakes! Highly recommend if you're driving by!!

I was driving by this restaurant and turned around to come back. Absolutely, a bad decision. They were busy which I thought was a good sign. I was alone and the waitress stated that there were 8 orders ahead of me and that it would be a bit to take my order. 15 mins later, my order was placed. Goetta, hash browns, 2 over medium eggs & light toast. The hash browns were so over cooked that the fork started to bend trying to cut them. Goetta not much better, crunchy at the least burnt at the most. Eggs were over light not medium. Toast was light but cold. Waitress offered to replace the gas browns and fussed at the kitchen WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT This coming from a person who loves diners.

Went to dinner this evening and the food was amazing. Slight setback when I had to pay the bill because their POS system was down but they took action immediately. Looks like they were running all new wires to get everything fixed so people could pay their bills. I waited patiently with a full belly. The waitress was very sweet and apologetic. Things happen but the service was amazing and the food was great so a little setback doesn't bother me one bit. If you want good food and great service this is definitely the place to be!!
