This review is for The Tempest production in early July 2024 and well worth the time to see more than once in order to "get it". Shakespeare is not always easy to follow, and this interpretation was fun to watch as the actors put their personal touch on a bit of physical comedy, costume choices, singing a ditty or two or three, and accommodating a few planes flying over at pivotal points in the storytelling. Our group of 6 enjoyed the theatrics and several bits of dialogue are now incorporated into our jargon. Audio production is top notch, particularly when considering the competition from jet planes, crickets, cicadas, and sirens. The acting is phenomenal and we are so fortunate to have THIS in our city. I plan to return to see the other plays this summer in Central Park, as well as the production planned at headquarters in late autumn.

This group is a gem in Louisville! Their performances in Central Park are long standing and all locals should experience this location. Benches are available (kinda uncomfortable) but you can consider bringing your own chairs or a blanket. This summer the group is already touring over 30 parks in Louisville! The small group played multiple characters and flawlessly changed attire as they left stage and ran back on for the next scene. Sound was fantastic and I loved grabbing my camping chair to settle in and watch. Thank you for what you bring to the community!

Shakespeare in the park is an annual series of shows revolving around Shakespeare and his works that takes place in the beautiful Central Park in the old Lousiville neighborhood of the city. Me and my family made our first ever Visit to this show last night. The director informed us that this is there 61st year in production! Also one of the stars of the show was actually in the original plays 61 years ago. How cool is that. In the middle of the park they have a large Amphitheater located around 3 massive and scenic trees. Quite. Lovely Scene with comfy seating. They have food trucks, public restrooms, merch both and even a wine and spirits place called wills tavern on site for these shows. So it's quite an experience. That's not including you can enjoy the entire park and it's amenities. The show we seen was Shakespeare in love. Now Unfortunately like 1 min after intermission a lightning storm cancelled the show. But from what me and my family seen it was a great show. The actors were very talented and did a great job. The story was entertaining And fun. I wasn't sure how my younger daughters would do and my 6 year old came to em today and was like "dad I'm bummed we didn't get to see the ending". Overall was a really fun and different experience for us. I have heard of this festival but never knew too much about it. I've honestly never read or seen anything Shakespeare. So it was never on my radar. But we had a great time and Incan absolutely seeing us come back next year for a show. This is thee last weekend of shows coming up and we have other plans. So we won't get to see our ending. But maybe we can see it or another full show on a better weathered day next season for year 62.

Came here for a Yelp event and enjoyed it so much that I came back with my coworkers for a social outing the next week. People have pretty much said all that there is to say, so here are some tips:1. Seating is fine, but you can bring your own chair to sit in the pit (in the front) or a blanket to make the bleachers more comfortable. 2. There will be at least one food truck and one dessert truck, plus they serve cocktails and beer. But you can bring your own picnic too. 3. Parking is nearby, easy enough, especially if you come early. 4. If you need captions, a script, or ASL interpreter, let them know in advance. 5. Come prepared that things may go not entirely according to plan, it's OK, roll with the punches. 6. Enjoy!

Shakespeare at the Park was great!! It was at Central Park by University of Louisville. It was a perfect day outside. There is an amphitheater there that has plenty of seats. That's where the play took place. The actors/actresses were amazing. The seat was beautiful and the show was well put together. It was a free show but with the production they put on, you could never tell. They asked for donations to keep the show free for the city. Please donate. This is a gem that I hope everyone gets to experience.

What a fun and cute event to go to. The actors are amazing! The park is beautiful as well. The food trucks they had when we went we're pretty good, and they also have drinks available but I'd probably say they're not worth the money. Overall, a great experience.

It is awesome to have a free event in Central Park each year. I have been wanting to go for quite so time and finally went for King Lear on Friday evening. The weather was perfect for it too!The seating in front of the stage recently received an upgrade. There were plenty of available seats so there was really no need to bring our own chairs. We brought them just in case and did end up using them for comfort purposes. There are also several picnic tables surrounding the area and people on the edges of the stage with blankets and picnic baskets. There were several food trucks and a bar selling Old 502 wine and local beer. The actors did an awesome job and the costumes were great! My only complaint would be the sound could have been a bit better. I really want to go back for Romeo and Juliet. They have a list of performances online and on FB. There are several more weeks left to enjoy it so if you haven't been yet- check it out!

Can't say enough about our visit on 7/22/23-the Scottish play did not disappoint. The updated facilities, food trucks, bar, security are excellent! We were a group of six from all over the country and were blown away by the production!
