We are in search of patio cushions for our indoor sunroom to begin to enjoy warmer days ahead, I called Rag Peddler and they gave me options for off brands of indoor/outdoor patio fabric (Sunbrella is expensive so I needed another option) and they have plenty of options that would be more reasonable. They have their "discount" bins that is leftover fabric from other peoples projects so I love checking out that corner as well. Beautiful fabrics at a great price!

I have been going to this shop for years... best selection of in stock fabrics in Lexington. The only place I will have reupholstery done. As far as custom upholstery and window treatments go you cannot beat their prices. The fabrics are priced better than competitors. The shop is big so they couldn't see a customer past all the racks of fabric if they wanted to and most designers don't want to be bothered. If you ask them for help they have always been very helpful to me. They are not pushy sales people which may be confused with disregard. You should go check it out and make your own assessment...I don't think these reviews are fair or accurate.

Hands down they have the best selection of in stock decorator fabrics in town, and the deals on roll ends and discontinued samples are fantastic for small projects. The staff have been very helpful when I had questions, needed help finding something specific, or needed swatches cut. Otherwise they make it really easy to shop, look around and plan without being too high pressure.

A friend and I came here on our lunch to look around. We were the sole customers and two women behind the counter couldn't be bothered to say hello. I'm sure I can find fabric elsewhere, who wants to patronize a place like this with rude employees.

It really pains me to write this review, because this place has such amazing potential. I'm a designer, and I love to visit fabric stores all over the southeast as I follow my kids' sports tournaments. Buying "in stock" fabric off the bolt is often less expensive than special ordering (even at wholesale prices), and buying out of my town assures that my clients won't have the same thing available at our local store that all their neighbors could buy. I just say that so you know that I'm always out looking! So, the good..... Rag Peddler does have a good variety of current fabrics and trims that are well organized and appropriately priced. Honestly, I could have bought fabric for draperies in three entire houses just from what they had in stock. However (here comes the bad....), I couldn't bring myself to spend one dime in here, even though they had the exact velvet I needed for a sofa, and a linen I wanted for panels, and several other samples I would have proposed to clients. When I called to make sure they were open (holiday weekend, their competitors were closed) got a very curt "yes" that made it clear they weren't looking forward to seeing any more customers. When I arrived, I walked in and began to browse. I walked the racks for about 15 minutes, taking pictures and making notes, and no one ever acknowledged my presence. I then approached the customer service area with plans of purchasing, and a blond woman looked up and asked if I needed anything, but with the clear look on her face that she had absolutely zero desire to be helpful. I don't mean to be overly dramatic, but I seriously think it was the most unwelcome I've ever been made to feel in a store in my entire 45 years on this earth. I actually turned on my heels and walked out, I was so offended. But then I reconsidered and went back in and calmly told her how unwelcome she'd made me feel, to which she half apologized and told me they were understaffed due to a death in the family of an employee. I could be wrong (and I hope I'm wrong, for the sake of their clients), but nice people tend to still be nice even when busy and in less than ideal conditions. Helpful people tend to try to be helpful, or just apologize if they can't be, even when they are exceptionally busy. Being rude requires an ingrained attitude that goes beyond simple indifference or a temporary frazzled state. So, if you are an average consumer who might need help calculating yardage for curtains, or have questions about lining, or are considering asking for help special ordering or having something reupholstered, I would RUN from this place. Hopefully you have better options in town where people are actually interested in helping you. If that's not an option, drive to Cincinnati, Nashville, or call a large fabric house in Atlanta where you can get better customer service by phone than you can in person at this place. However, sadly I have to admit that if you know what you're doing and just need some fabric, you might be just fine here. They do have pretty fabric. I just know that I'd personally rather spend my money where people appreciate my presence and my business.

I stopped in the store at lunch time. I was the only one in the store. Two women were at the counter. No one greeted me. I got to the counter and they did not even acknowledge my presence. I said "hello ladies, how are you today?" I barely got a word in return. Who needs that...not me. I will go elsewhere.

I have had several good experiences here selecting fabric for my furniture. The lady has been patient with my indecisiveness and so helpful in giving lots of pointers and tips. My fabric came in on time and I love it! So glad I went here. Redecorating can be overwhelming and the Rag Peddler has made it much more fun.
