I can not tell you how many times I have driven by or walked by Proof on Main. My wife and I have only stopped in a few times for drinks. On this rainy Thursday night, we made use of the valet parking, and then met up with some friends for dinner, who, as luck would have it, had never tried Proof before. We were seated, the most excellent server took our drink orders. I must mention they have a better Bourbon selection than a lot of so called bourbon bars. Anyway, my wife deiced that we would order and share our dishes... So that is what we did. We started out with the charred beat toast and the charcuterie board. Both were very good. For dinner we ordered the rock Shrimp Risotto, Pork Milanese, The Butcher Shop cut, Proof Vision Burger, an order of Butter Nut Oszo and Hearth Roasted Broccoli. All I can say there was not a a morsel left on any plate, All of our choices were fantastic. I think my favorite was the Shrimp Risotto. It was amazing. I cannot wait to dine in The Proof on Main again.

All of the art on the walls and just the whole vibe is pretty cool. We stayed overnight at 21c and had my birthday dinner at Proof on Main. We were there on a cold, rainy weekday. We chose to sit at the bar and have our dinner there. The hubby ordered the House Old Fashioned and I had Kevin Sura Da. The cocktails were a great start to head up a good dinner. We ordered the charcuterie board to kick it off. What a good start. There were a variety of meats and cheeses along with apple butter, pickles, creole mustard and crostini. I will apologize now for all my pics but the bar lighting made everything have a purple tint to it. The next cocktail was Kitten Mittons beer for the hubby which he really enjoyed (he had 3 ) and I ordered the Peerless Double Oak straight up as we are in bourbon country. The Peerless was a pretty smooth one. The bartenders were great by the way, they did not miss a beat.On to the entrees. I ordered the petit filet that came with potato terrine, Tallegio, bordelaise and ordered it medium rare. This could not have come out more perfect for this birthday girl! So tender and so flavorful. The hubby ordered the grilled swordfish that came with smoked butter, Meyer lemon, and lentils. He said it was just ok and would not order this dish again. I gave the swordfish a try and had to agree, he was sorry he had not ordered the filet. To finish off I ordered dessert, a take on tiramisu, it was devil's food cake on the bottom with espresso and mascarpone and I also ordered another cocktail, the Banana Jamma. I am not a big banana fan but it was good. The hotel had given us a card for a couple of shots of Angel's Envy so we also had those. Overall a very good experience at this restaurant. I am sure we will get back here again.

One of the most underwhelming, fancy restaurants i've seen in Louisville. It was a beautiful day with sun. And a nice wind and I enjoyed sitting outside waiting for our reservation time more then I actually enjoyed the meal. Our service was absolutely terrible... We ordered water and the server seemed almost sigh in sadness, because we weren't gonna be drinking all night long in running up the bill. My wife usually gets steak at places like this and her small steak was pricey and overcooked but she was already done with the place to send it back. There was a wedding reception going on in the bigger side so maybe the staff was more focused on that, but I did not feel taken care of for the price we paid. The artwork was a nice touch because it was different and a collection of someone's but it didn't fit the vibe.

Very nice dinner at Proof on Main. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. I loved the interior design which included a Buffalo motif. The menu options were unique combinations. I tried the Mafaldine which was delicious. No meat in this one. The noodles were like cutting off the curly sides off lasagna noodles. Great combo of pesto and fall veggies. Husband had the sword fish which had a nice smoky flavor. We shared the beans and ham side dish. Huge white beans with ham and a nice baked crusty topping. It went well with our meals. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed this visit.

I love the ambiance but I ordered the smoked chicken yesterday for dinner, and I am very disappointed. They brought out half a chicken. The smokiness was delicious in the breast part, but then I cut open the le g part - there is a red mark there, and the meat was undercooked. I brought this up with our server and she was very impolite and sounded like I was trying to get the dish for free. She said the chicken was brined, so it was just the vein and it was normal. The chicken was warm and not piping hot when it was served to me. The plate was also not hot when it was served. The leg part of the chicken, the meat was very rubbery texture, as opposed to the breast part that was soft and juicy. Last time I checked, brining won't kill salmonella. But yeah a little finess on how to say it in front of my colleagues during our business dinner would have been polite. Especially because I was nice and polite when I pointed it out, and i did not make a scene. Also the fact that the "vein" was so red, my friend almost threw up when she saw it. But hey, I paid anyway. The server was from or used to live in California and sounded like she knew the wine selection well. But if you go there, enjoy the drinks and cocktails. But don't order the chicken. One star because the ginger ale was absolutely great and refreshing.

Ok, skip the lunch. The only had a bruch menue, 1:30 saturday afternoon. It was not great. The sausage on my breakfast sandwich was a over cooked piece, not larger or thicker than a half dollar.Service was just ok, just above complaining. The are in the lobby of the attached hotel and in Proof are perfect if you want depressing and angry art about the history of our country, thrown in you get depressing notes about childhood woes from society. The big highlight was their barrel proof flight, which was exceptional. I would stop in gge bar gor that flight.

I guess I was expecting more from a place that is to be considered upscale. We were part of a small group and sat at a round table. Great table to talk I'm surprised that the staff di not wear a uniform. They wear I guess whatever they want. Service was inconsistent. Occasional had to ask a couple of times for things. The charcuterie board was good. We did have to ask for a few extra bread pieces a couple of times before they came out. The overall menu is a bit eclectic. I ended up with a pasta dish which was good, but not great and expensive for what you get.

The food was phenomenal. My favorite dish was the Gnocchi. So delicious. The steak and potatoes were fantastic as well, lightly seared, great cut. Our server was very knowledgeable about local beers and the menu. I wasn't sure I was going to love the funky decor but I really did, at night it was more of a dimly lit vibe and the ambiance was great.

Really fun- sat in the bar. It was packed! Tried some appetizers and in our group we got the burger, mussels and a pasta dish. Part of the museum hotel. I recommend!
