Great burger and fries! You know it's a great restaurant when it's full of elderly patrons that all know each other.

Great atmosphere and food. Love the Reuben rolls appetizer. Fast friendly service.Love how they saved historic aspects of Portsmouth history and integrated them into this pub!

small enough for an intimate dining experience, big enough for your next company get together. Port City is a fine example of a local business doing things right. you would never guess this quaint Irish pub was once a Revco drug store. Wood paneled walls, intricate glass archways, and two gleaming wooden bars round out this space. A warm friendly service staff, ample parking, and clean restrooms make this an easy choice for a quick lunch, or a sit down dinner. Check out the menu and craft beer choices, I am certain you will find a favorite!

My friend and I visited for the first time today, we thought we'd try a place we have never been to.My honest first impression upon entering was, wow this is drab, this isn't going to be good. But our waitress was welcoming and friendly. I also felt that the music needed to be at a higher volume because it was really quiet.I ordered the pretzel with cheese sauce, and it was just like a frozen pretzel you would make at home. Not bad but didn't impress me. We both ordered a half Reuben and potato salad, as the waitress recommended the potato salad, saying they make it homemade. Holy moly, that was some good potato salad! Very different from the usual, tasted like it was made with Dijon mustard. The Reuben was good, but the potato salad won the whole meal for both of us.Our waitress was very nice and tentative. She mentioned that their larger area wasn't opened up because of COVID. There were only 5-6 tables available in the dining area, very spaced out. Everything looked clean and well kept.Anyway, I'll go back just for the potato salad, maybe try a different sandwich or entree, and hope the music is a bit louder...

The Port City Cafe and Pub is one of Portsmouth's better bars. It's divey but it's not dumpy. There's a decent selection of beer and cocktails, most at good prices. It has hit or miss food. This is more of a bar so just stick with that. A lot of bars in Portsmouth look like they could be closed. In fact many are still open, they just haven't been kept up enough. This bar is one of the better ones. It's a good taste of the local flavor. This has an Irish theme. Beer selections include Guinness but they don't have any Killian's. There's also traditional food like bangers and mash. It also has some healthier choices. The hummus wrap is the best of these. It's about $7 and comes with chips. They also have shows by local musicians. I think Port City is one of the better bars. It's not as dumpy as some others. The beer and cocktails are great, and the food isn't always but they have some healthy choices in a city that needs more of them.

Great Guinness on draft, Hummus wrap was quite tasty and healthy choice. The Irish stew was typical fare but tasty and recommended. Chicken salad was also good, better than typical bar food. Of the handful of restaurants available in this town, this is a good choice.

Great place for a little quiet lunch. Haven't had a chance to stop by for dinner or drinks yet. The only down side is that cell signal is lacking inside the building.

tucked away in the heart of Portsmouth, port city as something for everyone. they have bands, reading, club meetings and décor that would rival any pub in Ireland. my brother plays there quite a bit, and on occasion, we make it down to watch. the reuben is what to order... I like it a lot. as my heart yearns for home, so it does for the pub.

Really interesting food combinations and a nice atmosphere dining outside. My colleague enjoyed a nice flight of four 4-oz beers that our waitress curated based on a few questions. I would definitely return my next visit.
