Ok, odd but true. Grew up in the Jtown area and used to go exploring their often with my friends. Great place to hike, and explore. The odd part is near the tressel we saw the Pope Lick Monster. Honestly. It was sunset, he was silhouette against the sky uphill from us. All 5 of us teens saw it- and ran back to the cars full steam ahead. Thin line between bravery and foolishness. Anyway, go, explore, enjoy, but keep one eye open and on the horizon at all times. Ya just never know...

Pope lick park is one of the major parks attached to Louisville's extremely large and impressive parklands park system. This particular location is not towards taylorsville Kentucky but still nestled inside Lousiville just a bit off the gene Snyder expressway. Unlike the other parks in Thai system such as broad run or turkey run this park is much smaller. Mainly consists of open fields for sports rec such as soccer. They aren't big on playground as they only have one smaller one. The walking trails they only have 3 that I was able to identify. So much smaller compared to the others. While not as big or as much to do as it's parklands brothers and sister sites it still is a very beautiful landscape and place to get in tune with nature. This park does host some pretty cool events. They very much play off the urban legend of the Pope lick monster aka goatman to the locals. Legend is he attacked you under the Pope lick train trestle. While it's a fun legend it is an active train and many people have lost there lives. So be careful. Anyways they will host haunted houses and creature feature movie nights here based around the urban legend. All pretty cool. Overall while it's not the mega park the other parklands parks are it's still more than suitable. I enjoy checking this place out as an alternative from time to time as it's not as busy or crowded as the others.

We came here while on vacation and enjoyed the trails. I like how smooth the pavement was - too often trails are paved but feel like riding over a washboard.Other positives:- bike tire fix station - long, multi mile trail - restrooms - plenty of parking.

Pope Lick Park at The Parklands Of Floyds Fork is awesome! I love The Parklands, and all of the parks that comprise it, but Pope Lick is really one of the best! You can take in the beauty of nature in this park during a walk, jog, or hike, or while kayaking along Floyds Fork. We love to hike and paddle here, so we try to visit often. We also love to bike this area. If you're looking for a great park to visit, or a spot to spend a day out in nature, Pope Lick is definitely a great spot to do it!

I absolutely love this park!! As the weather is finally getting warm, I found this park on Yelp for somewhere to take a walk after work, and ended up turning into a big exploring session! Pope Lick Park is a part of the parklands, as well as the Louisville Loop. At first I assumed this was just a small park that may take about 30 minutes at most to go through, but it is actually connected to many different trails, and can take quite a while to get through everything, depending on which direction you go into. There are also soccer fields at the beginning of the park. This is a very nice place to enjoy some sunshine in the Taylorsville area.

One of the many parks linked by the Louisville Loop!We were out walking a big chunk of the Louisville Loop on a 68 degree January day. The highlight for us on this particular day was the availability of toilets.Plenty of parking, several soccer fields, a small playground and some picnic tables. It also looked like there was an indoor space available with tables and chairs. There is a .7 mile fitness loop, but like I said, you could get some more milage in going either way on the loop! This was where we turned around and headed back to Beckley Creek/Shelbyville Rd. Next time, we plan to start here to explore more of the Louisville Loop.A great addition to the Parklands!(....just look out for the Pope Lick monster...)

Beautiful landscaping and walking Paths! We ran around the soccer fields and that's where I can let the dogs be off leash because it was fenced to the road and I definitely cleaned up after them when they went in the soccer area. I wish I could've stayed longer to actually explore the walking trails but we only had about 15 minutes to take in a leisurely walk. I hope to be able to come back and finish that and check out more of this park!

The only reason I like coming out to this park is to hunt for fossilized coral, and fossilized shells. I tend to find some pretty good quality one. The actual park it self is very clean and great for sports, hanging out on the lawn or even go on nice bike rides or going on please walks.

One my favorite places to ever be , I've been joining there since I was a kid and it just gets better all the time. If you grew up in J-Town you knew the stories about the Pope Lick Monster, and of course as teenagers we all had to go and try to see him, the parties at the park were awesome , . The one thing I always thought about was I love to walk in a creek bed and it has one of the very best. We used to park out there and do our thing and it was one place we could go and be ourselves , now years later I have taken my own grandchildren to see and enjoy and now they have added so much more it's just awesome
