Pope Family Farms

This is my fav little farm. They have the best fresh fruits and vegetables but I mostly come for their salads. The BBQ chicken salad is the best salad I've ever had in my life. Also, their corn is the best I've had too so I bought a bushel. It doesn't stop there though. They also have homemade pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cobblers, canned goods, fresh eggs and meat etc. it's a tiny Farmers Market owned and ran by the sweetest family. Stop in on a weekend and enjoy the occasional food truck, the farm store, the picnic area, petting zoo and park.

I'm excited to see this place grow. We learned of this place and made the trip to check it out. They feature a good variety of local (KY) products from meats to salsas and everything between.

I visited on Friday the 28th and bought some yellow striped heirloom tomatoes, some oatmeal cream pies, a loaf of sourdough bread and some blueberries. The blueberries were the best I have had this year, so sweet and delicious. The blueberry pancakes I made with them were so good. I used the heirloom tomatoes for some coleslaw and some BLT sandwiches, and also a nice garden salad. My dad reaped the benefits of the oatmeal cream pies and the bread, since it was his birthday. He was so happy and said that they were delicious. I will definitely be visiting again.

I took a ride out to Pope Family Farm in Paris. The building itself is small. They were doing a brisk business. I walked through, looking at the produce, and the prices. Expensive. Logic tells me, if you're buying direct from the farm, it should be cheaper. Not so. The meat was locked in freezers. What I did see was unappealing. Being a carbaholic, I looked at the breads, allot which were so tightly wrapped in plastic wrap the loaves were distorted. So much for that.83

I've been coming to this family farm since the pandemic hit, making it difficult to find meat. Now that I've been coming here, I have more appreciation for the work farmers do to provide food for the community; especially local farmers. This farm is run by family and they work about 90 hours per week to provide their customers, farm fresh produce, grass fed beef, pigs and chickens. They also sell flowers and ferns and home made preserves-strawberry is my favorite! It's great to know where your meat comes from and now, I will do my best to support my local farm!Go visit them and bring the kiddos-so they will know where their food comes from and how important of a job farmers have! They also have a Facebook page where they advertise meat packages..which is a great way to sample their products.

I have been a customer at Pope Family Farms for quite a few years now! They are always so helpful and kind! Their selection of farm fresh veggies is always delicious! The beef is ALWAYS fresh, and if not in stock, just call ahead and place your order!!! You will not be disappointed!
