About 3 months ago, we relocated to the southeastern area of Indiana from southcentral Kentucky. The first several days of unpacking all suggested "You must try Polly's Freeze! It's a landmark site! You'll love the food, ice cream, and atmosphere!" We did and we did! We visited frequently and made certain we stopped on their last day (they close for the winter months) to get our "ice cream and Polly Burger fixes" hoping it gets us through the winter!

Polly's Freeze is a regional treat, and I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to visit. My family and I stopped after our trip to Bryant's Blueberries. I got an Oreo flurry. My husband got a Polly's Freeze Special (cone rolled in peanuts with vanilla ice cream), and my son got a vanilla soft serve with sprinkles.Polly's Freeze has a walk-up window with its ample menu listed all along the front. It takes a minute to take it all in. And then there are picnic tables and other seating on either side. Our treats were great and hit the spot. The only hiccup was that they took 25 minutes or so to come out. We ended up asking about our order, and we found out that our order was put with the hot food orders, not ice cream. So if it's taking a bit, you might want to inquire.

I've been going to Polly's Freeze since I was a youngster. It was great then, and it still holds up today! It's on the side of the road with plenty of space to spread out when you eat. You order at the counter and wait for them to call your number. You can get hot food and of course cold desserts. My family has always loved the rotating sherbet (this is actually the place where I learned the word is sherbet, not sherbert). It can get busy on a nice day, but the employees are quick and keep it moving. It is a seasonal business, and you need to visit.

What better way to celebrate a sunny summer Sunday than to take a drive to Mellwood Indiana and visit one of the best local establishments in southern Indiana. You can get virtually anything here from corndog all the way to a hot fudge sundae or frozen banana. I always opt for the orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream twist. Need something to do a a Sunday afternoon? How about putting the kids in the car and come on down ! you will not be sorry.

I'm partial to this ice cream place because I was going here since I was a kid. Fond memories hanging out with friends. Great local establishment I will continue to support. No indoor seating.

AWESOME choice of deserts and I loved the milk chocolate taste of their chocolate soft serve. Food, well kind of overcooked. Large fish sandwich is for really hungry folks.

I had an upside down banana split that I loved. The atmosphere was of an old town and it is gorgeous. Pricing is affordable. Staff were nice and informative. They even showed me pictures when I wasent for sure of an item. Will be back for sure

This is a great snack bar and ice cream spot on the outskirts of Louisville. They have an enormous selection of flavors, sundaes, and shakes - strawberry milkshake is a fave. The onion rings are excellent, but the Polly Burger is pretty basic. This is a popular summer spot with picnic table seating. On a beautiful summer day, be prepared to wait, as it's quite popular.

Even though it's only open a few months a year...absence makes the heart grown fonder. It's a community staple and I go way too often when it's open. Their food is not healthy but delicious...and they have every type of frozen treat you can think of. My personal favorite is the sherbet that changes flavors frequently and the upside down banana split.
