While I'm going to admit (probably to condemnation from other loyal patrons) that Pat's isn't the premier steakhouse it once was, it's still a spot where the classic atmosphere and personal touches go a long way. If you want the old-school steakhouse feel, this is it. Staff wears jackets, it's dimly lit, pleasant music, Pat will personally make the rounds to check in on you...all good stuff. If I could stop at the ambience, might be five stars.Food is good but not where it once was and not where it needs to be for what you're paying. I'm not trying to live in the past here by saying how good to used to be, but I really don't know why it's dipped, and I keep wanting to see it back there. Really, I enjoy various items on the menu much more than the steak, which is not how it should be...and there's nothing on there I'd say is a must-try. Again, not saying anything is bad by any means, but if I'm paying a premium price, I want a premium product.Bartenders are great--friendly, attentive, and seem to give a nice pour. But if you're dining there, just stick with wine, beer, or bourbon...cocktails are fine, but that's it.Louisville institution for sure, and if you've never been, go--it's worth a trip. Just wish they'd get the full mojo back and make it the spot that used to be "the" place to go for a steak.

It took me years to get to Pat's Steak House and ot was worth the wait. There were 4 of us and we were seated immediately upon arrival for our 7 pm reservation. Out server was super efficient, helpful and kind. He answered our questions about the menu and provided suggestions. My hubby and i split the lady filet, it was a 8-9 ounce cut and more than enough meat for the two of us and cooked to prefection. Medium rare. It was extremely tender, juicy and had a wonderful flavor. It came with two sides and we opted for a baked potato and green beans. The potato was so good, not sure how they cooked it but it was excellent and the sour cream made it even better. We added a house salad and they split that into seperate bowls in the kitchen. Meals came with fresh rolls amd butter which were also very good. For dessert we had a piece of caramel apple pie that was served with ice cream and whipped cream. It too was excellent. The resturant is old school, lots of nooks and crannies and we had fun walking around exploring after dinner. Very homey and welcoming. Highly recommend

Good meat... Wish it was cooked as asked... Hate to do local yum place like this but have to be honest. 2 stars to be generous. Wanted to just end the night so bad I did t even use my gift certificate that would have covered the meal....just wanted to be done and in our way.Nice atmosphere, dated though so we loved it lol.Felt ignored most of the night even though we are seated next to the maitre de stand it seemed. Was a bit busy but worsened by the complaining staff in our ear.Sides were ok. Don't venture off of the menu though! My wife got to get some sauteed onions they came out while it shipped the first time they said oh we don't normally serve these and then they brought them back and burned trying to be funny I think...This is usually such a good experience have to be honest with my reviews

We were looking for a new steakhouse to try in Louisville. There was a recent social media thread where Pat's got a lot of positive mentions and folks raving it was the best in town. So, of course, we had to give it a try...Meh. That's about it. The atmosphere is casual and friendly but maybe more suited for an Irish pub than a top-notch steakhouse. That could be ok though - maybe charming even - if the food delivers on the promise. The service was fine and friendly. Our waiter was very pleasant. He did seem to be quite busy though and maybe a bit in a rush. But what about the steak that is supposed to be so great?!?!The food... I was soooo looking forward to a nice steak dinner. Both my wife and I ordered steaks and sides. She got the Lady Filet and I got the NY Strip. I ordered a salad and we got a mix of sides (Lima beans, green beans, baked potato, hash browns). The steaks came out at a perfect temperature - which was great... But there seemed to be ZERO seasoning on the steak. It was just, I dunno, odd. I thought maybe I was just missing it until my wife said the same thing. The sides were fine but also lacked seasoning and just seemed bland. At least with the sides I didn't feel guilty and added salt and pepper to them. We did order dessert which was actually really good (chocolate double fudge cake).Would I go back? For drinks or appetizers maybe. For a steak dinner - not at all.

Smells like an old wet basement. Food definitely isn't good for the prices. I've had better quality and taste at Texas Roadhouse for way cheaper. Will not be coming back and do not recommend. Also the service wasn't great. My waiter was sweating and just not helpful at all. I'm so pissed I spent this much yucky food.

Had a reservation at 4:30 on 2-14-25. This was made about three weeks ago. At 4:15 we called the restaurant and told the we were going to be about 10 minutes late because of traffic jam and to hold our table.Person on the phone stated they don't even open until 5PM. The website states they open at 4:30PM and we have always been there at that time. This was Valentines Day. Thankfully we were able to secure a dinner date at a very good restaurant on Frankfort Ave, at Grape Leaf.
