We often order for carry out here. The food is really good. Best hot and sour soup I have had ! The prices are reasonable, and the service is fast. The dining area needs work- but take out is the way to go here. Small staff, food is made to order. Definitely worth trying.

So I recently moved to the highlands and have heard about this place and got it once! So I had some friends over for the Bachelorette premiere and ordered a lot of takeout from Oriental Star. It did not disappoint!! Everyone loved it and we had leftovers. I didn't realize it is one of the best takeout places in Louisville. So if you are looking for a budget- friendly Chinese takeout place with a lot of food, check this place out!

For me, a #roadtrip find right next to my little Red Roof Inn while visiting Louisville for an event.5/22/21 -- they're only doing takeout, which was fine with me since I was traveling with my dog & don't want to leave him alone.I ordered a pint of hot & sour soup, and the House Special Chow Mei Fun -- which is the skinny rice noodles (not the fatter wheat flour noodles of lo mein.)The container was packed and had plenty of shrimp, chicken, pork, etc. That and my soup were both piping hot. I did use a few packets of their hot sauce on the noodles, which added a little flavor kick that I prefer. The hot & sour soup had nice mushrooms, tofu & scallions. My entree was $9.75 and the pint of soup $3.25, so I felt this was a very good value. A bottle of diet coke was $2.19.#yum #ReviewsByRL

Prolly the best generic fast food Chinese joint in the city. Only other one of this caliber I remember was Dohble Dragon on Goss. Very consistent, everything's cooked well and not super greasy. Closed on Sundays. If you have a craving for fast food Chinese, this is the place.

Food was just ok, price point a bit high for what you get. Service was good and had an otherwise fine experience.

A solid3.5-4 stars. We started off with the hot and sour soup and some crab rangoon. The soup was great, and I loved that they topped it off with scallions! The crab rangoon was stuffed with yummy filling and was perfectly crispy. For the entrée, I ordered shrimp and chicken with garlic sauce. I was loaded with meat and spice(which I love by the way) but the sauce seemed too thin. All and all, this place seems like a solid Chinese takeout place!

Eehhh. Not the best Chinese takeout I've had. Especially for the price I paid! $17 for combo dinner and Crab Rangoon. I understand inflation, but this is almost robbery. Five slices of..beef, broccoli that was more yellow than green, 4 or 5 shriveled carrot slices, mushrooms that looked like they'd been thru nuclear war and no red sauce for my crab rangoon!?!? WHAT?!?! Won't be back again.

Stopped in for lunch to try their chicken fried rice. I was not too impressed with the flavor, seemed like rice in chicken stock. After adding two packs of soy sauce it was alright. Overall, not bad for $5 but the rice could've been better for sure.

I had mixed feeling about this place, until the last time I visited. I was hit with that WOW factor.Let me first start off with saying that I love eggrolls. But I don't eat meat. THIS PLACE HASS EGGROLLS WITH NO MEAT ADDED!! Not a spring roll, not a summer roll, but a good ole crispy egg roll. I order 2 for myself each time. I just can't get enough! The first time I came I ordered the garlic broccoli with white rice. The meal was bland. I wish it had more flavor. Spice. Salt. Anything. But after looking through some reviews I decided to try again another day for lunch and ordered the vegetable chow mein, SPICY. And they did not disappoint. The noodles we're firm. The flavors we're spot on. I crave this dish, it's my guilty little pleasure. Staff have always been friendly. Food comes out in a very reasonable amount of time. I know what everyone says, all the Chinese restaurants are about the same. And that may be true. But each one has their own uniqueness about them and have those "go to" dishes that you can't get anywhere else. And I have found mine here.

Oriental Star is our family's most favorite chinese restaurant. We have eaten there for over 20 years. We love the General Tao Chicken, Combination Fried Rice, Bourbon Chicken, Spring Rolls, Vegetables, and Crab Ragoon. I also like that it is a family restaurant. We watched the owners' kids do their homework in the corner when we picked up our meals. The owner and his wife always recognize us when we come in. I would definitely recommend the food!!!
