A bit confusing for first timers. Seems none of the volunteers knew how to answer a question. First $20 p/p to get in. I asked what it covered and was told general admission. There were special tickets for beer @$7. Rides had signs saying how many tickets were required to ride. But, since no one answered my original "what's covered" I was looking all over for ticket booths. Ends up all rides are covered with your admission. There were plenty of rides to choose from. Plenty of food vendors. Nowhere near enough garbage cans or restrooms. (Only at the entrance). And nowhere to sit. Hot day. Sun. No shade. Nowhere to sit. Took the luster off of what could a 5 star day.

We visited the Oldham County Fair for the first time with our two young kids. The big bonus was that the kid friendly rides were included in the price of admission so my 3 year old daughter really enjoyed jumping ride to ride. We arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday when the gates first opened. The rides didn't open until 5. Lines were not too long early on. I also really enjoyed the petting zoo. Lots of family fun with lots of food and ride options. The shaved ice and pretzel were delicious. I gave 4 stars because the fairgrounds was not stroller friendly. Every parent who brought a stroller was digging it out of the rocky gravel which made it very unpleasant.

The Oldham County Fair was tons of fun!! We were honestly just looking for something different to do over the weekend and came across this fair on Facebook. It's a bit of a drive, being in Oldham County, but it seemed worth it after our day there. When we got there, it was $15 for admission + parking. It was cash only, so I'd recommend bringing some, or else you'll have to pull over and use the atm like we had to. Parking was pretty easy to do though, there was plenty of room for it. For a county fair, this one was fairly large and had a lot to do. There were pageants, a demolition derby, rides, petting zoo, camel rides, and plenty of food! The rides are free with admission, which was an awesome plus. The pricing for everything else was pretty much your typical fair price. Just a couple things that I wasn't a fan of. First being the employee at one of the games that came up to us and told a joke about mentally handicapped people....yeah, did not appreciate that. Also, almost the entire fairgrounds is gravel, which is not fun if you're wearing sandals. I would highly recommend wearing tennis shoes!! All in all, it was a good time. There's definitely a lot to keep you entertained for a while, and even if it's a bit of a drive for you too, it's still worth it.
