Don't let the exterior fool you. This a great experience! Had a blast tasting right outa the 7 barrels and listening to the owner/operators stories. I do recommend going here....not cheap if you want a bottle, but I don't mind giving my $ to a guy busting his ass and making a good product.

Old Louisville's barrel thieving experience was off the beaten path and awesome! Comes with the option to bottle your own straight from your favorite barrel. Don't let the size of the shop or location steer you away. Amine was an awesome host, and it's incredible to see that he's managing the process from sourcing to aging to bottling to distributing on his own, in addition to the tours (i.e., no other employees). As for the product - super easy to drink and can easily appeal to the mass market AND whiskey enthusiasts alike. He uses a low barrel entry proof, so even thieving straight from the barrel provides an easy to drink spirit (and also whiskies finished in barrels like maple syrup, brandies, etc. If that's more your speed). Sweet oakiness was present across all the different mash bills, ages, and types of wood used to age. As for those who are tired of sourced whiskies, he does have one key differentiator in that he refuses to sell anything under 7 years old. Compared to other barrel thieving experiences, this one is fairly priced and one of the most informative ones I've done - hearing some of his story, Amine is clearly a bourbon enthusiast at heart and also came with an engineering background. Ask lots of questions!

Amine is a gracious and convivial host who made everyone comfortable with his humor and detailed descriptions of his bourbons and their aging process. He was up front about sourcing the distillate while his still is ramping up. Don't let the industrial area and ambiance fool you, this was a great time and excellent bourbon. Make sure you budget for a bottle or two.

What an amazing trip here... the owner is awesome. Amire is the owner and came from Tunisia (been in KY for 20 some years) and provided us the tour. I can't even describe how great the tour was. The tour came with six tastings of bourbons, all were awesome! He even poured us the barrel in brandy cask for two weeks that he was not selling, and the comparison of the same not in a brandy cask. We were about to go out and buy a bottle and my husband asked to try the 16 year bourbon and he let us try it (148.8 proof!). Amazing... we tried 9 different bourbons! My husband booked this tour last minute from getting a bottle from an RVA bourbon group (apparently it was one of the two groups that was able to buy a barrel). Can't say enough great things about this place, can't wait to come back to visit our friends that live in Louisville to come back here! Thank you Amire for the signed bottle... excited to come back and visit when this place blows up!

Amazing! The owner, Amine, does the tour. You taste straight from the barrel. And you get to bottle your own to take home. Hands-down this was the best tour we did in three days. Thank you Angelique @ www.risonrtl.com for telling us about Amine!
