Old Canal Smoke House is one of the most famous Classic Historic Landmarks in all of Chillicothe! It is named "Old Canal" smoke house for a reason and rightly so. Located at 94 E Water St, Chillicothe, OH which is also where once flowed the old 1800's Ohio Erie Canal and is now called "Water Street" also rightly so. This old original building from old canal days is also our premier fine dining in Chillicothe. Delicious smoked meats of every kind is their trademark. They offer a plate of a variety of their in-house smoked meats and BBQ sauces. Was in the area travelling home from work in Cincinnati, and this place showed up within walking distance of a charging station (probably a quarter-mile away).While this wasn't really what I'd normally expect for a smokehouse/barbeque place (sorry, I'm from Texas y'all, and even now still live in NC), for what you got it was really good. Their spicy chicken sandwich really isn't spicy...but it is cooked really well, and it's GINORMOUS. My daughter loved their mac and cheese, and my wife was also quite impressed with her food.Service was top notch, pricing was reasonable, and everything overall was basically just awesome.If I find myself in this area again, I'll definitely be back, and would highly recommend checking this place out.

This is one of the better places to eat in Chillicothe. I was not impressed with the seasoning the first time I ate there; however, it's been fine every other time. They have very good handicapped accessible entrances. You are welcome to use them at anytime. They are on the side of the front dining area and on the side street toward the back. I will continue eating here when in town and I can definitely recommend it.

I absolutely love this place but was a little disappointed this time on how small their portions have gotten on some things. Like the mushrooms are SO much smaller. They used to be big now it was just a tiny little mushroom inside. My prime rib mushroom melt sandwich was pathetic for $20. There was hardly no grilled mushrooms or onion on it and the cheese was way overcooked. The Mac and cheese was amazing as usual and my bf's Ruben was awesome he said. Our server was great!

The hotel front desk receptionist recommended this place. I called to see if they allow dogs in the restaurant, but they said they only allow service dogs.So we ordered take out.When I went to pick up the food, I noticed a distinct BBQ smoke scent in the air. It was a cozy restaurant that I would have liked to eat in.8/10 salad with the smoked salmon8/10 Mac and cheese9/10 BBQ chicken ribs9/10 baby back ribs7/10 smoked brisket (a bit too salty for my liking)We were pretty hungry from our long drive, so we ate most of it. It was satisfying and would order again if we ever pass through.

On a work trip to Chillicothe and this is now the second time I have had dinner here. Excellent menu, great service and the food has been fantastic! I can't believe they have The Veil brewing out of Richmond VA. This is one of the best breweries on the East Coast and arguably in the US. Incredible Bourbon, Whiskey and Rye selections too. Peanut Butter Pie was incredible!! Love this spot!! Great work being done here!! #deitzeatz

If you are going to site see in the area this is the best food option. There are fast food options but otherwise this is it. That being said, it's really good food. I had the Smoked Brisket Sandwich with fries. I opted for the Cole slaw and pickles on it which is a must as it was a little dry but tasty. My wife had the burger and really enjoy it. Service was a bit slow but the server was very friendly.
