I visited in the back half of the day and had an overall good time.My favorite part is likely the street being shut down. I love a good pedestrian area, and we as consumers are more likely to go in places when we can leisurely stroll. There was a music stage and a small area for performers, and a few areas with kid centered things.I really enjoyed that all the businesses were open at one time. I've been walking through Nulu before and tried to stop in a shop during the middle of the day only to discover its closed. This really welcomed people in but also made some areas a little crowded. Overall I'm looking forward to next year to see how they continue to expand.

Fall in Louisville means at some point you have to go to the NuLu Fest in the NuLu neighborhood just east of downtown. This is where they block off several blocks of East Market Street with booths of merchandise and food. Oh, yeah, alcoholic beverages, too. If you didn't have a reason to visit the area restaurants and local shops before now you have a festival celebrating the rebirth of this neighborhood. As a native of Louisville this area was quite sketchy as a youth. Most people avoided this part of town. Now with a new energy and the growth of unique local shops and quaint local restaurants business is booming and crowds are the norm. OK, we lost some restaurants such as Rye, Decca, and Harvest due to Covid probably and the great Joe Ley's Antique Emporium is no longer around but things are getting better now and the promise of new businesses and growth are in the air. Still in the area is Muth's Candies a local business selling tasty candy for over a hundred years. Not only did we get some candy there but picked up some unique items at one of the booths along Market Street. And yes, out of towners seem to love NuLu, too.

Not really sure where to rate NuLu Fest. I guess it's fine. To me, there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot going on. You walk up and down East Market Street, going in and out of the stores that are always there and always open. The only difference, really, is that the street is closed and there are vendors and booths peddling merch or advertising their things. There are a couple of food trucks, but nothing too fancy. You can pet the goats. You can drink a beer from a vendor or some such.Honestly - the best part is the Yelp scavenger hunt.Aside from that, not that cool of a thing. It's an excuse to go outside and walk around, which I'm always for.

This is one of my favorite festivals is town. (And we have soooo many to choose from). It's great because it truly is like a "best of Louisville" display. Nulu is one of the most creative communities in the Ville. It's full of vibrant colors, quirky (and locally owned, locally sourced) shops, restaurants, breweries, etc. The NuluFest is the community on steroids -- all the great people and great local shops, plus food trucks, local bands, local beer and local crafters and vendors at street booths. It's also the best of our people, our neighbors, our community. This Fest knows no age boundaries. No race, no religion, no orientation or gender boundaries. It's a come-as-you-are, as who you are and chill. It's families. It's couples. It's hipsters and football fans. Today I saw a 20/30-something black guy dancing in the street, stop to show a 13 year old white girl how to replicate his dance move. It was no big deal to anyone. I remember stopping for a second and looking on as a bystander and thinking to myself, "this is beautiful. This is the world I want to live in. A world where people are kind and generous, blind to the things that make us different and tuned in to how we are the same". In that moment, and in all my moments at the NuluFest, I was proud of this city, proud to call the Ville home. Louisville is love. If you're looking for a down-home festival, full of great food, cool shops, beer, booths, shopping, love and community, then NuluFest should be marked on your calendar. Pro tip: it's usually the last Saturday in September. Bonus: YelpLouisville usually attends and hosts an Instagram contest full of great giveaways.

The first time I came was years ago and it was a completely different experience. It was mostly social. They didn't have as many vendors or food trucks and there wasn't much to see. This time, it was crazy! Lots more people and a lot of family-friendly activities. I ended up spending a few hours here!Lots of vendors and food options now! It's also more diverse and inclusive. Yay!The bands were a lot better this time and drew more of a crowd.Parking isn't hard to find at all! You can find free parallel with no issue here!I would totally return to this festival next year!

Did you know that we are one of the cities in North America that has the most festivals?! This is one of my favorites. Nulu Fest features the fabulous businesses and restaurants in the Nulu area sharing their wares. The restaurants feature specials just for this event. Market street is blocked for a few blocks leaving a lot of space for pedestrians to walk and explore. There are different concerts, and fun activities to enjoy during this event. It's definitely worth it. So come for the fun, the laughs, and learn some new things about Nulu.

What a blast at the fest today. Although it was so hot. Hottest I have been all summer. Walked into and out of the shops. Visited multiple vendor booths. Took in some music at the music stages. And played the Yelp elite photo scavenger hunt. And won a gift card for a free eyebrow wax and manicure from Dollface Brows and Beauty from that contest. How cool is that. Thanks to Yelp and Dollface. It is the cutest little shop off market and I can not wait to go back for my manicure and brow wax. The crowd was great, just chillin and having fun on a Saturday afternoon in downtown Louisville. My favorite event was seeing my nephew frederick win the Royals hot chicken tender eating contest. I am guessing 3+ pounds of HOT SPICY tenders in 10 minutes. It was a site to see. Always a good time in Nulu. I love my city

Into its ninth year, the NuLu Fest has truly worked to grow and provide a fun experience for the community. I love that it runs 11a - 11p and can appeal to families or groups of friends. It has a nice balance of local vendors and businesses in Louisville. Plus, the stores along the street stay open for all day shopping. Hungry? There's plenty of local restaurants and food trucks to offer a variety of dishes. And, don't forget a drink, with or without a "punch". The event runs several bands and I liked how the stage was set back from the street. It allowed the crowd to flow into a large area without blocking visitors that were walking the street. This year Ben Sollee performed and he was nothing less than amazing. If the weather is great and you have time to roam, put NuLu Fest on your calendar. It's worth the effort.

This event is an absolute blast..it was actually a lot more than what I was expecting. I've been to the St. Matthews and Highlands Fest where I've had a pretty average time, spending no more than 45 minutes there, but Nulu Fest definitely takes the cake and brings a whole lot more to the table. I really love Nulu. It's probably one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of Louisville, mainly because it is always full of fresh ideas and local culture. So, when you have an event like this, you are pretty much celebrating everything there is to love about Nulu (which is A LOT!) and learning more about some great local businesses in this city. I think we spent about 3 hours here, there's just so much to do. Along with getting to check out shops, restaurants and bars, there are tons of vendors laid out on the street and live music. A lot of businesses will offer discounts and specials. The best part is getting to explore, indulge and learn about the area. Nulu Fest is a must event for any local or out-of-towner, hands down!

Great event with food, local art, and fall festivities on a warm September day. Great shopping in the best local neighborhood. I love how they highlight local artists, and have such a great selection of shops in the few blocks of the NULU hood. We got feast bourbon slushees, jewelry at revelry and plants at mahonia. Scout is my favorite store! And don't forget to stop by red tree. Garage bar had amazing pizza!!
