Ventured in for some sushi since I was craving it. Nice littleplace in a shopping center. Service was quick and we were sat within minutes. We ordered two rolls and ramen to share. The rolls were good, fairly fresh. My husband really enjoyed -- " some of the best ramen I've ever had" -- the spicy miso ramen. We were both delighted to have the pork katsu was still crispy even while on the soup! Will probably be back to try the other ramen again.

After all the stellar reviews, I was disappointed.Service was decent enough considering it was a busy, noisy Friday. My server took my order for a small hot sake, but when it came it wasn't hot; just lukewarm. And in the smallest "small sake" carafe I've ever seen. The edamame were fine. The gyoza were hot and properly pot-stuck instead of being deep-fried, but were still noticeably oily.Moving to the nigiri, the tobiko (flying fish roe) was dry and failed to transmit that salty bite I was anticipating. And the ebi were just shrimp on top of rice; no smear of wasabi that most places include. Sure, there was wasabi on the side, but it's not the same. All things considered, I left Michikusa wanting more than it delivered.

This was my first time trying this restaurant. I heard great reviews from my friends saying their food was really good so I was excited to try. We got sat in there back private room which was nice. All the food was really delicious and super flavorful. The only downside I would say is the wait time to get everything. But the food is worth going back for.

So glad I finally got to try Michikusa! Stopped in for lunch and ordered the salmon don and soba, both were excellent. The salmon was some of the highest quality sashimi I have ever had, the rice was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, and the soba noodles were delicious with a light and flavorful broth. The service was great and very friendly, and the restaurant is well decorated with a pleasant atmosphere. I will definitely be back to check out some of their specials!

Michikusa was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was traditional yet modern, and the soft lighting created a cozy and intimate setting. But the real star of the show was the food. The spicy miso katsu ramen was out of this world. The spider roll was better than expected. The tempura sabo was just as expected. There were two shrimp and three vegatables, very perfectly battered. The sabo noodles came in a miso soup and was very hot when served. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable as well. Fast and accurate.Overall, I would highly recommend. 5 stars

Great food, prompt service, and chill atmosphere. Only awkward thing was the giant bottle of hand sanitizer on every table.

Authentic Japanese place, I saw some other Japanese people eating her too when I sat down. I got salmon with rice which was crispy and not dry. I enjoyed it overall. I saw other things on the menu other "Japanese" esque places may not offer so if your wanting to try something besides just California rolls this might be a good place to try out. They sat me at the bar and the older chef looked so serious I felt bad if I took out George so I didn't get to take any pics with him this time. But if he was out he would say chomp chomp cho...out of 3 chomps!

The food here is great! Easily some of the best Japanese food in Lexington, if not Kentucky. Definitely check out the specials list! They can be a bit pricey, but they're always delicious, and there's many items you won't likely find at other places. If you've never been and don't know what to get, I think the katsu curry is a safe bet! I usually get the curry soba or ramen + a special or sushi as an appetizer. I really like the grilled squid, eggplant nanban, futomaki roll, and mussels (I don't recall the exact special names, and naturally the list of specials varies a bit, though being so long, it is fairly consistent). The service has always been good from my experiences. It's not a big place, but the atmosphere is nice, and it's usually not overly busy.I go here semi-regularly, but I'd go more if I lived closer!

Server sat us down and only after we were served our drinks let plus know 1/3 of the menu was not available. When filling out the receipt and adding the tip, the server was watching and made a sour face. Never eating here again!

I have seen the place numerous times and decided to go in with a couple of my Japanese coworkers. I am a huge fan of spicy miso and miso ramen. The miso ramen was full of flavor. I didn't try anything else but I would recommend
