Great nights sleep even in the middle of summer! Shade from the trees kept us cool
Be an extra cool parent and hit up the dollar store for glow sticks. Makes camping more fun and then less afraid of the dark!

The campground store was expensive and unhelpful staff. Shower was ok but we are use to sailor showers. A dog attacked me in the campground and when I complained no one ever did anything about it. No one even the park service got back to us about the complaint. Animals not on the leash and some leads over 60" long. We will never stay their again.

Pretty decent campground located in Mammoth Cave National Park. Shady green, grassy spaces spread out enough for a bit of personal space. Each site comes with the traditional wooden picnic table an metal fire ring. We cooked a nice dinner here and chilled around the fire at night. Lovely Even in the dead of summer, we had a nice nights stay because of the shade and keeping the cover off our tent. We fell asleep to the sound of many, many crickets, more than I've EVER heard! We woke up to deer around our tent which we loved! Check for ticks however. The campground is not far from the visitors center and directly next to the amphitheater. If you stay here make sure you bring flashlights and catch the 7pm show there! It's so incredibly informative and made our visit to the park that much more meaningful! Stay for the end! We were able to pay the $20 fee as a walk-up after hours through a drop box at the entrance hut which by the way is a hot spot as cell reception in park is iffy. We called fam from this spot before we went to bed just to let them know we were ok if they couldn't get in touch with us. Bathrooms were fine. Nothing spectacular, but no complaints. The only thing to watch out for would be the rattlesnakes! A ranger told us she saw a three footer in the area earlier that day. She advices us to stay on the paths although they have been seen there and to walk with flashlights single file.

This campground was just a few miles from the Jellystone Campground. This one is just a fraction of the price, which is especially recommendable if you're tent camping. Buuuut it's not as recommendable if you have a RV. They only have two sites with hookup and apparently those are usually occupied by camp hosts. We arrived just before dusk, on a weekday. There is an after hours registration box. Unfortunately, the site that we pulled into was one of the only two with full hookups. We weren't using them, but they put a sign on our door to let us know that we owed. Well, that site was $50... yikes. The normal sites are only $20... which isn't bad at all. There were deer at the site, right before dusk. They must be used to friendly humans because they didn't appear to be skittish or scared. Each site have picnic tables and fire rings. If you didn't bring firewoods, there's ton laying around to gather. Speaking of wood, the entire area is heavily wooded, so even though when it's Kentucky hot, you can find a shade.

Great simple campground. We had a camper spot with electric, was really nice and we had a patio. Very clean bathrooms but the showers were closed due to covid. General store closes was to early ..5pm approx. So many deer at dusk, they were beautiful.

Clean campgrounds and clean bathrooms! We ended up staying there a second night because we liked it so much. The tours for the cave were excellent. The Drips and Domes tour was spectacular and the Historical tour was a great way to end the day. Book tours ahead of time!!

Some of the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen at a campsite. A short, easy walk from the campground to the visitor's center where you can pick up tickets and start most Mammoth Cave tours. The camp store was extremely handy when we needed a mallet to get the tent stakes in the gravel ground at the campsite. And the food at the lodge restaurant (also a short, easy walk away) was surprisingly tasty and creative. The brunch buffet was a great way to start the day. The showers (located behind the camp store next to the post office) cost $1.50 for 4 minutes and were clean.

This place was absolutely outstanding. The caves were amazing and certainly worth a visit to see. I only did the Historical tour, which was very interesting. I wish I had the time to do some of the other tours they had available. It is very busy here. If you want to make sure that you have a spot on a tour then I would suggest purchasing the tickets the day before. We did that and we were able to pick them up no problem. The people were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Check this place out for sure.

Beautiful wooded camp spots. Bathrooms located in each loop are convenient, heated (but no hot water) and clean, well-lit at night. Camp store is walking distance to most sites. Mammoth Cave visitor center is also 1/4 mile so very walkable, bikeable.

Beautiful camp site, plenty of shade, trees good for hammocks, nice fire ring and concrete table. Bathrooms were very nice & clean and a short walk from my tent. Deer wandered through on several occasions- they're very comfortable with humans! The only thing that will probably make us camp elsewhere next time: The bathroom is just 2 toilets and 2 sinks. No showers. For a shower, you have to go up to the campsite entrance where the camp store and post office are, by the guard shack, and pay. It's $1.50 for a 4 minute 30 second shower, 25 cents each additional 30 seconds. I've camped plenty and showers have always been included in the site fee.The "firewood" available for sale in the camp store is some compressed block of processed wood- suitable for providing heat to cook with, but no good if you're wanting a nice campfire. We did see a house on the way there from 65, a few miles away, advertising firewood for $10 for a wheelbarrow full, so, thanks you guys, you saved our campfire!
