Hidden gem.Portsmouth is a strange place. We were passing through and saw the positive reviews, so we came in for dinner. The food stands up.The restaurant has a cool vibe because everyone there seems to know each other, and they were all talking across tables. When someone new came in, they would make rounds saying hi to the people they knew. It was really cute.Thee food was excellent and authentic. Not your boring tex-mex. They have options like queso with house made chorizo, Chile Colorado, and big burritos. Even their salsa is made with love and has a personal recipe (extra black pepper). You can tell they care about their menu and put effort into every menu item.

Grabbed a quick dinner while in town and really enjoyed the salsa and chili verde. The Nando which I ordered was fairly unimpressive; not bad, but not good either. The eggs were over-salted, but the other meats had no seasoning and white rice wasn't the best vehicle since it didn't add anything to the dish. Customer service was outstanding though and I wouldn't hesitate to try it again if I'm in town and needing a meal.

Best Mexican food in Portsmouth, not over seasoned or bland! Love the service and clean atmosphere. Street tacos are my favorite!

Very nice and very clean. The service was excellent. I would not call it traditional, but still very good. My sister-in-law ordered the California Burrito. She liked it. I ordered the Fajitas Jalisco, which comes with chicken, steak and shrimp. It was your typical fajitas with the usual sautéed onions and bell peppers; however, there were a few mushrooms. It was served with the usual beans, rice, lettuce and sour cream. They did honor my request for corn tortillas instead of flour. The portions were hugh, way more than we could eat. I would recommend it.

Sorry I forgot to take a picture. But the food here is great! I got the Chile verde and it was delicious can't wait to go again and try the Colorado chili. The staff was very attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this establishment

This place was once awesome and it used to have the best high quality semi-authentic Mexican in town. Quality was consistently good for a few years, and Maestro's was great when we were here this past June. But our recent experience differs from this and the quality today was low (nothing like before). It was like a typical Americanized Mexican restaurant today. The fajitas were now basic and bland. Chilaquiles went from being perfect with excellent crispy chicken to watery and tasteless. Hot salsa ($2 extra) was decent, but nothing like the excellent quality before. I hope our experience was just an off day. Would be sad if another Portsmouth restaurant slid down in quality. But from a recent facebook post it sounds like they changed owners and this will be the new normal and we sadly won't be back.

Good food, breakfast all day long is muy bueno Friendly folks :). Had the house enchiladas which were pretty good.

The food was great! Loved the street corn and can't wait to return! Great staff and service !

I called and reserved a table on Thursday 6/24/21 for a group of 13. When we arrived we were seated immediately and orders were taken promptly. Our food arrived hot and delicious in a very short time. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, constantly checking on drinks and giving refills.Our group ordered a variety of entrees and all were very tasty. We did order margaritas, however they are not serving alcohol.
