Great service, vintage NKY tavern feels, family friendly, generous portions of entrees and sides that were prepared to delight. We came tonight for first try to see if Yelp reviews were accurate. We have lived 2.4 miles away for almost 25 years and barely noticed this place. It is now our secret place to explore the menu offerings. It is Friday and so we tried the special.... the large fish on rye with lettuce, tartar, and grated cheese, and it was great. We both chose the coleslaw vs. stewed tomatoes plus the included Mac and cheese. Come hungry as you will not want to leave any on your plate as it was delicious. We both had a beer for our beverage, and that seemed appropriate in this traditional tavern setting. We plan to come back and try all the Monday thru Saturday specials.

Definitely a Neighborhood bar.Located in a neighborhood of smaller blue collar homes you have to know this place exists or you will pass right by without seeing it . Parking can be a little tricky. This a no frills down home comfortable bar. I was headed to the Party Source to get some Bourbon and used Yelp to find a good burger, Loyal Café popped up and I'm glad I stopped. One thing not noted in other reviews is that this is a smoking bar, if I had known that I probably would not have stopped. Lucky for me that I did stop. The people in the bar were friendly and the menu selections were varied and very reasonable.I ordered the Loyal Burger, onion rings and Hot Wings. The loyal burger was HUGE and very tastey, dripping juice like a good burger should. The wings were large and very good 6 wings for 4.95!!Everyone said I had to come back and try the fish.... I'LL BE BAAAACK!!Shout out to Linda a Great Cook!!

Four star rating for the food. It's a total shocker from a place so small, known mainly as a bar. The food is SO good! Everything we've had here has been excellently prepared. Otherwise, a great bar if you're a smoker, or want to smell like smoke. Maybe get your food to go if not.

This place is the quintessential neighborhood bar. People all seem to know each other after a few drinks. The bartender always has a heavy hand when pouring so we all became BFFs quickly! The kitchen was closed when I went, but rumor has it that the fish sandwich is the way to go!

An okay lil' corner place w/good burgers. I had heard this place had great burgers and i was not disappointed when i had one. other than that, this place did not have a whole lot else.it had some old neighborhood corner bar charm but also had , for lack of a better word, unnecessary clutter.it was not easily handicapped accessible but being an older building & on a hill, you have to expect that.

Hands down my favorite dive bar! It's in the neighborhood and everyone knows each other. Cheap drinks and yummy greasy spoon fare. You'll be best friends with everyone in the place by the end of the night. There's not an official dance floor, but, trust me, if "The Wobble" comes on the jukebox, it's game on!

When I moved from Cincinnati to Bellevue, KY the two question I was asked most frequently were "What church are you attending" (usually followed by a suggestion) and "Have you had the open faced fish sandwich at Loyal yet?". It was a little creepy. My first visit to Loyal was after the kitchen closed which was unfortunate but my friend Sara did enjoy a shot of Jameson in the bar room before we left. The second time I visited Loyal I was arguing with my fiance because we were hungry. We found out the cash only policy too late and left before ordering. I dare to say my third visit was the charmed one and went over quite well. My roommate and I met there for discussions over greasy, inexpensive food. The back and side dining areas were deserted and the front held just a few patrons, talking loudly and happily at the bar. They were laughing, watching the game and not at all upset when I butted into their conversations as if I had been there all along. Loyal is still a smoking establishment and I had to ask for an ashtray but the food was incredibly quick to arrive. I was boring and ordered a grilled cheese, Matt decided on the burger which (proving our waiter true to his word) was as large as the napkin dispenser and tasty (I'm not currently a militant vegetarian and had to try it). I don't think I've ever seen Matt have to neglect his french fries before. Next time I go to Loyal maybe I'll try the open faced fish sandwich, if it's as good as the other food at this humble little dive than they might find me asking new residents in the area if THEY have tried the the open faced fish sandwich at The Loyal Cafe yet.

I went in with 3 of my friends for lunch on 4/20. This is the filthiest place I've ever seen. It really looks as if it should be condemned. The floor says and there are holes in it. Now let's get to the food. Grocery packaged round ham for a ham and cheese. Same for a turkey club. Food is average at best. 4 beers, for sandwiches and 4 fries. $67.92. I almost fell to the floor. I've never seen prices for such average food, at best, I my life. Please stay clear. I would have been embarrassed to leave that check on anyones table.

One of the best of a dying breed. Friendly old school corner bar. The bartenders always remember your name with a smile. Go!
