Everything was delicious. I liked the beef the most. All his toppings were great. I was happy to find this location, because there doesn't seem to be a lot of hot options in Louisville

Cool little restraunt with great old school ambiance and plenty of Chicago memorabilia. Lots of regulars over the lunch hour. Had the Clark's greet dog (Chicago) with chili cheese fries and Diet Coke. At $15 was a little high for me, especially when a drink refill is $2. Probably wiser to stick to daily specials which seemed a good value. Dog had a good snap. The bun was tough though. Fries and cheese seemed standard GFS fare. However the chili was excellent with chunks of beef and perfect diner sweetness. Onions were fresh chopped. Only had two people working---Lonnie cooking. So if anything else needed done (restock item or swap soft drink syrup orders ground to a halt. But only a little longer wait. Not too bad. I'd eat again. Maybe stick to the specials.

Whew buddy! Now that I eat meat, you CAN NOT WILL NOT keep me from Lonnie's! A family run business built with heart, dedication, and flavor! My favorites are the Wabash chili dog and the Clark Street dog (omit the tomatoes). The Wabash chili dog hits my need of chili with freshly chopped onions, while the Clark Street gives me all things pickled! Anyone who knows me would be suprised to know this is a type of food I eat. Lonnie's made me a fan but for only Lonnie's! So, even if you do not like hot dogs ir chili... Lonnie's will make you a fan! Not to mention the kind conversation while waiting for your freshly made order!

This is true to Chicago! The dog is without a doubt 5 stars. The fries were more of a 4 star but that is not what I am there for. If you want to know what a Chi-town dog is or miss them. Get the Clark St. It is spot on and the price is great!!!

This place is fine if you have never been to, or plan to ever go to Chicago. I lived there for many years and I was so excited to come here because I thought I could get my "fix" whenever I needed it. I tried the 6" Spicy Beef: Sliced Italian beef in au jus garnished with a hot, spicy sauce along with hot peppers on a 6-inch roll. I ordered it "wet" meaning, once the sandwich is made, they dip it in the au jus to impart more flavor. Why was this sandwich not spicy at all? Why was the beef cut too thick and tough? Why was the giardinara sweet? I guess if I had been served this and was told it had some other name that had nothing to with Chicago, like the Toledo Meat Sandwich, I would have just nodded and been like ahhh OK. But the beefs I have had in the past are not even on the same planet as this. It's just an OK roast beef. Now the Onion rings - come here for those!! These are magical - so crispy and light and airy, they are truly amazing.I also got a bite of another Chicago standard, the Pizza Puff. This appears to be handmade by this establishment and while it was a noble attempt, it was visually unappealing (dough was sort of haphazardly thrown around a filling of sauce, cheese and pepperoni, when it should look like a little neat empanada or calzone) and I think it was baked, not fried. It was OK.I will come back, not just for the onion rings but also I want to try a hot dog. Apparently they use Vienna Beef and that is the gold standard. If they do a decent dog I will definitely amend this review.
