Stopped in going from Portsmouth to Hillsboro & so glad we did!We both got a Bacon Double Cheeseburger sans lettuce & tomato & I'll have to say that THIS is what a hole in the wall diner should taste like. Fresh & fantastic!! The fried mushrooms were excellent as well, just not enough of them. Service was fast & friendly, picnic tables were nice & shaded. My hunny got a small Raspberry ice cream, WOW!!!Great all the way around!!

The two girls were playing on phones when we pulled up. We both ordered flurries. My reese's flurry had large chunks that I could not bite without it falling off the flimsy spoon. It didn't seem blended at all. The pic shows a whole chunk under the ice cream. The ice cream had no flavor without the mixin. Not impressed. We used to come a lot. Not anymore.

Ok.....so if you take a road trip way way out to see the world famous Serpent Mound this place is about your only nearby option to get a quick bite or something to drink. It is literally about a mile down the road and has your typical ice cream store burger joint stuff. They are a Pepsi shop and they do not take credit cards. So, after you've seen the mound, stop here, refill, and head home.......because there isn't much else out there.

This dairy bar is great! The service is friendly and the food is always really good and comes with a more than fair low price. It is indeed the only place to eat that's close to serpent mound, but that's no excuse to give it a 3 star rating. They also accept credit/debit cards. If you're thinking about eating here it's highly recommended.

Please disregard Brad's comment. Peebles is one hour from Cincinnati and not "way way out there," we are just simply here, not there! Every small town shouldn't be shamed for not being a big city and by the way, Cincinnati isn't a "big city." I came from SLO, California and have lived here for 11 years and love this area and call it home so I don't take kindly to having it ran down just because it's not filled with the hustle and bustle. As for other things around here, we had a great contribution to the Civil War and Underground Railroad, check out those historical sites, enjoy our lakes, creeks, rivers and camping sites. Check out our nature preserves and state parks, our friendly and quaint communities, the local artisans, the MANY family owned restaurants, etc; our area has quite a lot to offer if you just look for it. Now, about LG Dairy Bar; they do take credit cards and they are actually about four miles from Serpent Mound. The food is really good and if you're not from a small town or 60 + years old, you may have never experienced dairy bar food so give it a try. I'd recommend the Texas-T or a Taco Salad.

Shakes were awesome! So thick had to eat with a spoon. Pleasant young lady waited on us. I would stop here again if in the area.
