Solid spots for tacos. Generally speaking this general area is the best spot in the city for street tacos. Just about every other shop sells them. La Tropicana has a grocery store, food truck (this is where the tacos are sold), and a dessert shop. So, it's essentially a one stop shop! :) I only wished they had lengua. Their menu showed it as an option but the day I went they did not offer it. Also, wanted to note these tacos are well stuffed. I made the mistake of getting four tacos per person when ideally two was enough! Service was quick but I went on a weekday around 11:30 am. There's seating outdoors.

Amazing tacos!!! We tried the pastor, carne, and chorizo. All three were big portions, juicy, and delicious! The salsas on the side were tasty too! We will absolutely be back!

Great spot for authentic street style tacos. The building itself isn't well marked and when you walk through the door to straight back to get to the Taqueria. Each person in our group went with three tacos's each (pollo, chorizo, carnitas) with onions & cilantro - and everyone gave it the thumbs up. They brought three different sauces out and we tried all of them....careful as one of the red ones packs some heat.Adequate indoor seating - and they also had an an outdoor patio. Service was very friendly and prompt. We loved the place!

To paraphrase early Drake, "baby you the best, you the f'in best, the best I ever had, the best I ever had."Fantastic taqueria, which is located inside the market on weekdays and outside on weekends. I have been so many times and have had Lengua, Pastor, barbacoa, lomo, cachete, carnitas, and so much more. They also have a little ice cream store in there too which is great.Pretty much all the clientele and servers speak only Spanish, so sometimes communication can be difficult, although I always like that because it adds to the authenticity.

La Tropicana is one of those hidden gems. If you were driving by you wouldn't think of stopping there. Unless, like me, you needed some decent corn tortillas to make enchiladas the next day. It's a market, taqueria and has a lovely helado and dessert section. Hands down the best tacos we've had since we left California. We got carnitas and pastor tacos with a side of rice and beans. They gave us two salsas to go with the lunch. One was a salsa verde and the other a salsa roja. The food was amazing. It was one of of those meals where a half hour later you're dreaming of going back there and having a meal again. Everything was delicious and the people working there couldn't have been nicer. It was also a good value. We got a ton of food for $13. I can't wait to go back and try the barbacoa and the lengua!

Ok so i have been craving pastor tacos since i was in Mexico last year and i have been searching high and low for them in Louisville. Now Louisville wasn't known for tacos but i am loving that more taco joints are opening up here. Who doesn't love a great taco!A good friend put me onto this place and if you are up for a little journey down Preston, you won't be disappointed. To me La Tropicana has the closest tacos i have found to match Mexico. They do it right, using 2 tortillas per taco and good flavorful sauces. They have a good selection of meats to choose from, steak, chicken, chorizo, pastor, tongue and liver. Simple tacos made right and i promise you wont be disappointed.

Truly the best Tacos in town but I can only give 2 stars because the prices have doubled since Covid. Pre-covid tacos were $1.50. Now they are $3. What used to be a weekly stop will now only be a couple/few times a year.

This Latino grocery on Preston rocks. The raw chorizo in the meat case is some of the best I have ever had.Great prices on lots of Mexican staples.Every weekend they are having a fiesta outside. Al pastor is roasting on vertical spits. Delicious. The to go Lechon is also very tasty. Slow roasted pork shoulder in chilis and garlic. Awesome.

Just left this place and my boyfriend and I loved it. We are street taco fanatics so that is what we got and we have 0 complaints on the food. I also liked that it's a grocery store of Hispanic items. Only thing that can be a little difficult is, the workers don't speak much English. Other than that, the place is great and we plan on returning.
