i loved camping here. it was a little tucked away and had spots that were not right next to each other that i really liked. there was a trail that ran behind our camp so we heard people throughout the day but they were still far enough where we were private. not bad priced either. fills up fast during busy season.

This is one luxurious campground. It has running water bathroom and a hot water shower space. Campsites are spacious, has hooks, fire pit, and a picnic bench. We came here in torrential downpour but was able to camp on a suitable site and not have our tent flooded at night.

Koomer Ridge is a very well-maintainrd campground and offers a comfortable camping experience. Some things that make Koomer unique for campers interested in coming:- the area where you place your tents is made of gravel, which is great for keeping things dry, but you also need to bring a pad or mattress because sleeping bags aren't thick enough to avoid feeling that rocky surface.- Very organic and private spaces. This definitely does not have that KOA or high-capacity feel, each spot is unique. You can still see and hear other campers, but it's quite private and you end up with a more relaxing experience.- no power on any of the camp sites, but there is power in the well-maintainee bath/shower house if you need it for something.

The Good: decent sized camp sites, right next to hiking trails, surrounded by forests. The Bad: no electricity, no lighting, no showers, trails not marked for difficulty, hearing traffic from your camp site. The Rundown: this place is kind of between primitive and non primitive. You have your site marked out for you but no way to run any lighting not powered by batteries. I do like that it is a small camp ground and certain sites like ours #53 felt very secluded. Some walkway lighting, or at least lighting in the bathrooms would be nice. What I found to be best about this camp ground is that there is a trail that is connected to the property. It is the Rough Trail, #220. It's name appears deceiving because when you start out it is very easy. It is not until you reach the halfway point which is a mile and a quarter that the difficulty level skyrockets. At the end of this trail is part if the beautiful river. You can hang out down there where it is nice and cool. If you want to get to it faster, you can go to where Rough Trail, #221 begins, it is only 3/4 a mile. The Impression: the scenery is beautiful in its own way but nothing spectacular from your camp site. Without being able to look up much information on the park we came there prepared equipment wise, but expected a little more amenities. This is a place that is worth exploring a few times.

Beautiful campground and probably the prettiest we've camped at. We go there about 10+ times a year. Amazing trails and you can select one that suits the length of hike you want to do. We prefer the more private sites because this place gets very crowded. Weekdays are better. The downside is the new camp host (2015) at the main entrance and his wife are really rude and we've had problems with him driving very slowly by our site as many as 7+ times in a short time staring and then coming by 20 minutes before checkout to rush us out. We stopped going for awhile after that- it got a little creepy especially when we take our teenage daughter camping with us to worry about him lurking constantly .

This is a national forest service campground which usually means-in our experience-a pretty basic campground and no reservations so you have to go in the morning and find a site. Which is what we did after looking at the Natural Bridge State Park campgrounds the night before. (Basically a small village on a lawn). Koomer Ridge has lots of space between campsites though some have lots of stairs to get to them And it has showers! Yay! Camp host has ice and kiln dried firewood. Was a great place with so many beautiful trails and scenic points nearby. We loved the skylift up to the Natural Bridge because it was Really Hot and Humid--not hiking weather
