Our experience with KRAG has been great. Matt was our climbing guide on two separate trips and he did a great job of finding routes for our family. We range from very beginner (me) to an experienced competitive team climber (my kid) to in between (the others), so that wasn't an easy task. But he was encouraging yet challenged us all. It was a great experience. We recommend powering past the last generation website to make your reservation and climb with KRAG.

Climbing with KRAG was THE highlight of our visit to Kentucky. I would go with them again in a heartbeat. Their guides are super professional - in knowledge, safety best practices and skill. And they are a ton of fun and really enjoy sharing their passion for climbing and the Red River Gorge. Whether you are an experienced climber or a complete beginner, or are climbing on your own or with your family/friends/party, I highly recommend climbing with KRAG.My brother and I climbed with Brian (one of the co-owners) and had a blast. We didn't have all our gear but KRAG provides everything you'll need for free (shoes, harness, helmet, etc). It rained so much the day we arrived and I was worried we wouldn't be able to climb. But Brian is so knowledgable and knew where all the best spots were that stayed dry. We got to climb so many classic routes, learned new techniques, and had so much fun. Also, one thing to not overlook is KRAG's emphasis on safety. Brian and his team have loads of experience and every certification out there, and it clearly shows. It gets even better. After a day of climbing, we were so hungry and headed back to the Skybridge Station. Turns out, you can enjoy from their amazing selection of local craft beers on tap! To add, they even serve the best hot dogs and quesadillas in town (and some of the best I've ever eaten)! The guys at KRAG are awesome and are the reason our trip to Kentucky and the red river was epic. I can't wait to go again!

My husband, 17 y/o daughter and I did a full-day beginner session with Allen and it was awesome. My husband and I were absolute newbies while our daughter has climbed a few times. She's going to be a camp counselor this summer and wanted more climbing knowledge/experience beforehand. I was really nervous initially but Allen quickly put me at ease with his patient and relaxed manner and his emphasis on safety. In addition to knowing exactly where to take us climbing for our skill level, Allen provided great detail about equipment, terminology and the overall history of the sport in RRG. My husband was skeptical that we could do a full-day (thought we'd either burn-out or get bored) but with 3 of us rotating turns, it was perfect. The half-day wouldn't have been long enough. We will definitely be going again!

I had a full day climb (Sport climb) with my guide Matt at KRAG this past weekend and had a great time. We went to the Muir Valley where Matt gave me a lot of information about belaying, cleaning anchors, clipping, and rappelling. He explained things very well, was very knowledgeable about climbing, and gave me plenty of opportunities to practice. The climbing was fun too! He also gave me useful suggestions for how to continue with outdoor climbing on my own as a newbie. It was a great experience. My only quibble is that what constitutes a full versus a half day of climbing wasn't really set in stone (number of hours). It would be helpful to talk to your guide at the beginning of the session to clarify that.

Absolutely loved our day with KRAG! I have climbed in the Red in the past but my friends had not. We are looking to become independent and lead climb eventually, and our guide did such a great job pushing us to our limits in all of the right ways! Most indoor climbing gyms have a bad vibe, and their employees are questionable in their customer service skills - but KRAG was so friendly, supportive, and an overall great time! Would highly suggest to anyone of any level!

My climbing partner and I took a full day trad class with Brian and had a blast. I'm now extremely confident in my ability to place protection and build anchors, and we spent the next few days successfully leading trad with our new skills. Highly recommend the course for anyone who is just getting into trad, or wants someone who knows their stuff to fill in the gaps of your knowledge.

Repel was great, the hike getting there, very treacherous. Needed better hiking clothes, also hands got burned on rope, they should provide gloves or tell people to bring some. Matt was great, extremely knowledgeable, and explained everything I will come back, just not when its 94degrees

Great experience. First and foremost, they do not combine groups. They assign a guide to each group of varying sizes. If you think it through that is remarkable. Began climbing in with wife a year ago in our 50's. Clifton was a remarkable guide. After listening to our indoor experience and my wife's outdoor experience he took us to a climb just above my level and right at hers. The early challenge gave him an understanding of our present ability and wether we wanted to be challenged or just maintain our level of climbing. He planned our climbs accordingly. We have not yet learned to lead climb so he had to top set each climb, which gave us an understanding of how to maneuver each climb. TRUTH: He made it look way easy! He let us negotiate the rock, one of the best things about climbing, until we asked for guidance. After each climb he gave technical insight into how best to maneuver challenge spots we met. They were little things like hip to the wall to give me 4"" more reach, but they were huge! He even explained a successful crack climb which I had never done before. No wasted time waiting. We moved from climb to climb. Finished the day exhausted and totally exillersted by our progress that day. Returned to their cafe for local craft beer in remarkable climbing ambiance. If you don't climb the beer selection is excellent from local Lexington breweries. Plan to go back again, not just for guide but instruction I lead climbing.

Great laid back shop with a casual cafe and bar to boot. Solid chow, beer selection, and live music. These guys have it wired. Great experience with Matt, my climbing guide.
