I have never seen a better contender for one of those Gordon Ramsey "restaurant makeover" shows. The bones of a really good restaurant are in place. The food can be really good. There are servers that seem to genuinely care. And the area desperately needs a hidden gem that people will drive (WAY) off the beaten path to visit. The waiting area is like an artisanal Cracker Barrell, with what I assume are local handmade goods being sold. It's an interesting way to kill 5 or 10 minutes, but the waits are usually much longer and they really need a better situation... a place to sit for sure. Most of the patrons at Kellie's on the Friday night we came were... let's just say "seasoned citizens" and standing for the 30-45 minute waits for a table wasn't popular. When you're finally seated, the wait for food can also be very long. There are problems throughout the entire service structure. One idea that may help - their new salad bar. You should definitely get that if you're hungry because there is a good chance you are going to wait a while for your meal. The food we finally received was quite good. The "Country Fried Chicken" I ordered was a HUGE plate of delicious fried chicken breast in this amazing gravy. With sides of mashed potatoes and fried okra, this was the southern food I dream of while living in Los Angeles. My Mom had the fried chicken with sides of mac n cheese and brussels sprouts. Everything on her plate was also great but she couldn't stop eating the brussels sprouts. They were truly something else! But after waiting for a table for almost an hour and then waiting at the table for another 45 minutes, honestly I was exhausted. It was almost 9 pm and I do NOT eat dinner that late. I just wanted to go home. So we took the food to go and sadly, it didn't get eaten. So disappointing because it was all so good.Again, there is tremendous potential here. I'd love to see the place succeed and would be happy to return someday. It's a spacious dining room but I think the ventilation also may be an issue - I felt like the place was super smoky and it was hard to breathe. They need a better waiting area and they have to be able to handle the hungry crowds that show up despite the ongoing issues. Clearly, they're doing something right - hint... it's the food!!

The Fried Chicken had a great flavor and was moist. Onion Rings were good too. I had the Derby Pie with whipped cream which was amazing. My wife had a burger which she said was average that came with Lays Potato.

I absolutely loved the chicken fried steak. It was 10 ten things I've ever eaten. I'm not kidding. You gotta try it. I will say, my food wasn't too warm. I wish it was hot. But you can tell it was banger.

Just visiting the state and was looking for something in the area. Saw some reviews which made the place seem promising. Sadly, it was not. The plates came out lukewarm/cool. Some of the silverware was dirty and took a long time to be given an additional silverware set for our party. They were out of wings and when given a substitute, it too came out lukewarm. The cheese was not melted on the Mac n cheese, they did not have honey or lemons, which is unusual for a restaurant, especially for a place that has friend chicken and biscuits, and the green beans were unseasoned . The salad bar and birthday brownie Sunday were delicious and honestly the highlights of the evening.

We stumbled into Kellie's the other night as we passed through town in the midst of a storm. The place was fairly empty- just a couple groups when we arrived, about an hour and a half from closing. We were surprised when the friendly hostess informed us that Mondays were Family Style friend chicken night. I was unsure about this, however the dinner surpassed my expectations greatly. The chicken was deliciously lightly breaded and perfectly fried. The sides (green beans, biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy, and coleslaw) were generously sized and tasty. I was happy to see they had sweet tea on the menu!Throughout our meal, our hostess/waitress made sure we were constantly supplied with whatever we might need- drinks, refills on sides, etc. There is a little shop attached filled with all the things you could hope to find- soap, children's toys, lotions, decor, etc. The bathrooms were quite clean and well stocked. I'd like to try this place again when their full menu is available.

Service was good but the food is just ok. The new salad bar was less desirable than I had hoped for. It was picked over pretty well, with a lot of empty containers.

Delicious!!! We were in Kentucky to see the ark encounter and found this place in a plaza. It was packed and we couldn't get a seat. We decided to come back the next day and try again. It's a pretty big place and they have a lot of tables. My husband and I ordered the piggy piggy with french fries and the deep fried cheeseburger with corn. We split them both. Our favorite was the piggy piggy... It has bacon on it with apple/walnut coleslaw. I don't even like coleslaw and thought this was really great. The deep fried cheeseburger was really good, but I would not have been able to eat one by myself. It's very greasy and not very healthy ... But very delicious! The waitress was exceptional and the price was right at $31 for the entire meal!

First our waitress was great..she was very embarresed about the food. Now the food....over 30 minutes to get 5 dinners. Only 6 other people in the restaurant at the time.We ordered 4 Country fried steak dinners...3 came out so burned when you cut into them they crumbled apart in peices. The other one when cut into blood came out...no kidding. The Monte cristo that the 5th person ordered was fine. The waitress removed and credited what could not be eaten. So we all left hungry....Wish I coul

The restrooms were in a separate part of the building. There were no paper towels in any dispenser in the men's restroom. No electric blowers. Nada. I used my shirt to dry my hands and to open the door. The first thought is - do the employees use this restroom? Do they wash their hands?

We purchased tickets for a timed event that included music and dinner. All information stated that the event started at 7pm. We arrived at 640pm and the event had already started. The people who had arrived were already drinking coffee and eating dessert. When approached the owner was immediately defensive stating the act started early and acted as if she had no choice in the matter. She stated she would refund ours and others money, but how is it appropriate to start a timed event early and serve food when all the people who have paid for the event haven't arrived and it's not the stated start time yet. This would be a great place to open a restaurant.
