The store is wonderful. There are lots of hand made items (towels, clothes) as well as baked bread, cookies and sweets. Vegetables and unique salads and delicious food are on the refrigerated shelves. The aisles are loaded with special flours, spices and honey. The hand crafted chairs and benches are amazing. The register lines are steady and constant. There are registers in the front of the store too. This place is worth a visit.

A great store with a huge selection of items. I used to live near this store for several years and visited weekly. You will find a selection of some of the best and lowest priced deli items that you've ever tasted. You will not be able to find any where that sells the same quality for less. Cheese and deli meats are wonderful and the homemade ham salad is by far the best I've ever tasted. You will also find a variety of pickles, jams, spices, and so on.. and there is absolutely nothing that I've ever had a complaint about. The spices are far lower in price and fresher than anything you'll find in any retail store. There is also a candy aisle and snacks that are packaged in plastic. These items are wonderful as well. I used to buy a huge assorted variety every week. They have practically everything you can think of and then some. I could go on for hours about all of the wonderful products that they sell, but I'm sure you get the idea. It's worth the stop. I now live in Texas and everytime I come back to Ohio to visit, JR's is always on my 'must do' list. I take cases of items back home to Texas every time we visit.

This is a very unique and tasteful Amish style store. The location is well situated just about 2-3 miles off of route 50 right before Bainbridge,OH. They have a Variety of stuff. From Baked goods to Candy to Other stuff they have it. I like coming here whenever I need baked goods.

JR's General Store & Farm Market is definitely off the beaten path. A friend and I were driving around this part of Ohio to enjoy the fall foliage and to do a little hiking back in October when we stumbled upon this wonderful place. It must be run by an Amish or Old Order Mennonite family, although I'm not sure which. Don't ask me how, but it appears they really manage to have a fully functioning store using no electricity. And they didn't appear to sell anything that requires electricity. If it had dawned on me to do so while I was there, I would have taken a peek behind one of the their coolers to see what it was plugged into, just to appease my own curiosity. They have a huge selection of bulk items, including different kinds of flour, spices, you name it. This place must be just this side of heaven for someone who loves cooking totally from scratch on a regular basis. They also have meats and cheeses and many unique things you just don't see everywhere (A do-it-yourself jerky making kit? I think that's pretty cool, and I'm really not even into jerky!). And that's just on one side of the store. The other side has handcrafted furniture, nicknacks, quilts, and gifts. Wow, how about that entire collection of cast iron cauldrons, in various sizes, for you to hang over your fire? They have an entire aisle dedicated to batteries and various kinds of fuel-burning lamps, so don't forget to pick up an extra hurricane lamp or two, if you are running low. Really, who needs electricity? I'm sure these would be just the folks to set me up with an alternative for charging my cell phone during a power outage.Be sure to drive slowly and carefully in this area because there are a lot of horses and buggies as well as many people on bicycles, hauling their supplies in crates attached on the backs of their bikes. Note, there is also a little bakery called Country Crust Bakery that is just down the street. I have a feeling it might be owned by the same family. We didn't stop there, but in retrospect, I wish we would have.

I've been going to JR's with my grandparents, who live in the area, for years and it's one of my favorite places. The previous reviewer is correct- JR's and the Country Crust Bakery are owned and run by the same Mennonite community (the church is right down the road as well), so their merchandise is geared towards the community- oil lamps, clothing, bulk foods, et cetera. They have lots of local produced products (furniture, sheds, home goods, delicious canned foods) as well as bulk products, including an entire aisle of traditional candies in bulk. They also have all kinds of canning and cooking supplies. It's a really interesting and entertaining side trip in a beautiful part of the state that every good Ohioan should see. Also, the Country Crust bakery down the street has, hands down, the best baked goods ever. Their rhubarb pie, pumpkin bread, pretzels, pizza, everything is to die for. Definitely, definitely stop there as well!

The deli prices are usually pretty good; veggies are often over priced. No dates on their bulk food so not sure how old things are which is a problem. Purchased jam also and when opened when we got home was molded and had to return They talk in their native tongue around you and about you. I have personally seen and witnessed this in action. Bathrooms are clean. Also when purchasing deli meat one day, the girl started slicing it and I saw her smell it and then she threw it away and cleaned the machine, so again watching dates is an issue. I smell the things I get from the deli before I leave and have had to send something back that did not smell good. Generally the girls that work there are pretty cordial and helpful.

Shopping here is one of the highlights of my life! We only get out that way about 5 times every year but the groceries are the greatest, at good prices, good quality foods, bulk herbs, local honey, homemade noodles and Sarsaparilla!! Just all round good foods, SO much YUM! And made with less toxic additives, who could ask for more!Praise God Almighty!

We go there all the time, it's only about 19 miles from me.....We love that store....Both places are owned and run by the Amish...I get my Oatmeal and Grits there, plus they have all other grains and spices you would ever want, and prices are very reasonable....they have fresh vegs. that are grown in that area in the summertime.....they have a large Deli, where they sell all kind of Deli luncheon meats, and they make fresh sandwiches as you order them....really reasonable too, and they don't skimp on the meats or cheeses, etc.....they make a great sandwich....we always buy a couple.....JR'S also sells homemade swings, things for your yard, they have a big area of furniture that they make and sell....made very well....check it out when you go.....After you are thru shopping there go on down to the COUNTRY CRUST BAKERY....they have lots and lots of fresh bakery items they make there in the bakery. I love the fried pies, love their breads, regular and fruit breads.....Cinnamon rolls, peanut brittle and most any pastry you can think of.....they also make sandwiches there too...and make pizzas to sell too.....I think they must be related to JR. maybe brothers running both places...but not sure.....someone had said that once, but they are really nice,
