Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse - Louisville

Fantastic experience from service to food and drink. Pleasantly surprised at how good the sushi was considering its main focus is clearly on steaks. Available steak cuts and accompaniments were plentiful to say the least. Couple of us got the dry aged cowboy steak and downed all of it. Green beans were spicy and probably the favorite out of all sides, although the lobster mac was a standout as well. Lastly, desserts were beyond decadent. Our favorite was the espresso chocolate cake amongst the ice cream and cookie and banana bread that we also ordered.

As a rule, I very much enjoy steakhouses, but I also find them to be overrated--I can make a damn fine steak at home for a third of the cost and at least equal quality. But I generally go for the experience anyway--excellent service, delicious sides, vibrant ambience. When it comes to Ruby's, though, it's always well worth the trip, and there's nothing overrated about it.First, the food is excellent. Top-quality steaks always perfectly cooked. Amazing seafood. Sushi is a fun addition, and quite tasty. Sides are awesome. And they have some killer deserts. Cocktails and wine list at top of the line.Service is unparalleled. Attentive, helpful, professional at every turn.Atmosphere is amazing. Lively, classy, good music, vibrant bar area, private dining areas.First class experience in every way.

We were staying at the Galt House for a few days, and as I headed up to one of their meeting rooms on the third floor, I noticed that Jeff Ruby's was in the attached building.One of our plans while we were there was to celebrate my husband's birthday the previous week, so we made a reservation and went for dinner on a Thursday evening.Everything was outstanding. From the service, to the ambience, to the food, we loved it. We both had surf and turf, and I can't imagine a better meal.Our server brought my husband a special birthday treat for dessert, which was a nice added touch!

The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The seasoning was simple but let the meat shine, and the sear on the outside gave it a great texture. The mashed potatoes on the side were creamy and paired well with the steak. Service was friendly, though it took a little long for the food to arrive. The restaurant had a cozy and warm atmosphere, making it a nice place for a good meal.

One of Louisville's finer restaurants, this place will be a great dinner for folks. All the meat entrees were a finer quality beef selections. The sides and desserts all were excellent. Maybe a (4) dollar sign level of pricing. But at least you won't be disappointed in what comes to the table.

My coworkers and I came here for a Christmas dinner and immediately we were impressed with how festive the inside looked. We were treated with warm faces from valet to the front desk. Our amazing server was very knowledgeable about all of the food options for the day and took note of my sesame allergy. We had another person with a gluten allergy and he happily brought her a gluten-free menu. We enjoyed almost everything on the menu and would do it again twice! There was nothing that we did not like. I wish we had room in our stomachs to finish the bread, but literally everything was great, from the Ruby Roll to the steaks to the crème brûlée. The manager was also introduced herself, which was nice because the night we went it was very busy, but we still received our food in a timely manner. I would definitely love to visit again and try some more items on the menu!

The decor in the building is second to none. The service is absolutely extraordinary. The blackened rib eye was the most amazing steak ever. There is absolutely nothing we would change about our experience.

Just go. After a day of bourbon distilleries, I figured I had earned a steak. Went to JR; sat at the bar as I wasn't dressed in any snazzy attire (and had zero problem.) The service at the bar was probably the best bar service I've ever received. Multiple people checked on me while I was seated, the food came quick, and the team behind the bar made great suggestions. These guys even came over to me to say that the bread service would be delayed.... That's next level folks. I had the burger and fries and it was solid. Reasonable prices and a solid number of options. I'll be back without question.

A staple amongst my sisters and I - if there is a reason to celebrate this is where we are going! Jeff Ruby's has gotten us through some great times (birthdays, promotions, graduations) and has also gave us a smile at some of the worst, funerals. We always love coming in and know just about exactly what we will order. A dozen Chesapeake oysters, a Freddie salad, steak and potatoes and a martini! The only thing really up for discussion is the second size, potentially a sushi roll and the type of cocktail. We changed it up this go around as they removed their crème corn and added Szechuan Green Beans. While the option seemed fun and a good option in the moment we wouldn't order these again. They were good, but they do not complement the menu really as this is the only dish of that sorts. I would choose the mushrooms over the beans if you want to complement a steak. Service was great and as usual the manager on hard was walking around and checking on everyone. Great dining, just not the biggest fan of their menu change, I miss the creamed corn.

The atmosphere and service was fantastic.The food was delicious and served based on our pace of eating. Our waiter Caleb was very knowledgeable and personable as to our food preferences and allergies. Graham was mindful of filling water cups, wrapping up finished courses and very kind.We would definitely come back for special occasions to enjoy a nice evening.Management was very present and introduced themselves and checked in with guest.
