If you're looking for a killer burger on Oak Street, Jay's Burgers food truck is where it's at. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., it's perfect for a weekday lunch break. With plenty of picnic tables and cozy vintage red chairs to relax in while you wait, this spot has the setup to make you feel right at home.My go-to is the smash burger with crispy shoestring fries. The burger is juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor, and the fries are perfectly salted and addictive. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Jay's Burgers deserves a spot on your lunch list.

This was my first visit to the Jay's Burgers food truck and it didn't disappoint! The service is friendly and food is out quickly and hot. They had a few picnic tables to sit at while listening to some music in the background. The burger - high quality beef that you could taste. I do wish the burger had a little more of the crisp edges that some smash burgers have, but it was still a great burger. Next time I'll probably order an extra slice of cheese as well. The fries - this may sound weird... but they taste like a higher quality version of McDonald's fries. They were fantastic. The house made ketchup had an interesting sweetness to it as well. They don't have an expansive menu, but they don't need to. They do burgers and fries and they do them well!

Visited on a Wednesday at 11am. Parking was no problem this early. Service was quick and friendly. There is one menu item. Burger and fries for $14. This is the kind of place that makes you recalibrate your scoring system. I could go back for next weeks lunch. I could go back tomorrow. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had alongside very tasty fries. Here's the thing about the burger (and fries). There is nothing special about it. No gimmick, unless you consider quality ingredients a gimmick. It is simply a perfect example of a cheeseburger. Every ingredient and proportion is as a cartoonishly perfect cheeseburger would be. A minor note that I appreciated - they sell largish bottles of *spring* water rather than small bottles of *drinking* water. We look forward to our next visit, and would not hesitate recommending it to others. Caveat: weather and insect activity can and will affect your experience here. This is a food truck with dining available at outdoor picnic tables.

Perfectly smashed burger, freshly prepared food, reasonably priced and quick service. Friendly staff and decent location for eating outdoor by the food truck or to go. One of the best on Lousivlle. Can get it doubled.

Looking for a no frills, very solid ultra-smash burger & fries!? This is where you need to go!I was finally was able to link up with this truck on Oak street as I'm usually not in the area and able to get out during the middle of the day. The burger was suuuper fresh, made to order and high quality. I would've liked a bit more toppings (little sparse) and patties a bigger as I finished it pretty quickly. Their fries were also very good too though, perfectly cooked and salted. Jay sauce was good but wasn't my favorite "special sauce" around. We got 2 combos (double cheeseburgers + fries) and 2 bottle drinks. Overall, it was a touch pricey for the size of the burgers but I'd still go back due to the quality of beef and other ingredients being sourced locally.

I've never actually been inside the restaurant itself, I've only been to the food truck that is parked in front of Shop Bar every Wednesday from 5-8pm. I've passed it many times leaving work and I finally visited 2 weeks ago and now more recently. I've gotten their Double cheeseburger with fries and their famous Jays sauce. They make everything fresh so it does take some time. I've taken my food inside Shop Bar and ate there and have a beer or 2. I absolutely love that it's actually a Steakburger rather than a regular patty. Fries are always good and crispy and I always get a side of Jays sauce to go with the fries. Jays sauce even comes on the burger itself. It was one of the bartenders inside Shop Bar that told me the owner (Jay) makes everything homemade. I'm proud to be supporting this local food truck.I will definitely be back here and hopefully I can make my way to the actual restaurant. Wonderful employees and owner.

Absolutely a quality burger I've had the experience of watching him make my burger from the outside and I did not see a wasted movement Jay is showing care in the work he does and it shows. Yum!Also the music is always a hit while sitting under those red umbrellas!

As I write this, we're on the cusp of Louisville Burger Week, which will be featuring $7 burgers around town. I suspect Jay's won't be participating, in part because they are a food truck, but also because their standard locally-sourced grass-fed beef burger is already priced at $7. Admittedly, there's no pimento cheese or jalapeno or the like, and it's not a half pounder, but it has plenty going for it -- namely, that it's a lovely, no-frills, well-proportioned burger, two small thin patties, classic toppings. The most unorthodox thing on the menu is the "Jay's sauce" for the fries, and even that ain't gonna make Granny give a side eye. Truly delicious. An All-American paper bag of nostalgia. I love a good burger that isn't the size of a softball and won't leave me with intestinal pangs of regret.Miss Michael would insist on pointing out the pickles are good too.

Decided to stop here for a late lunch, and glad I did! Fries were hot and salted perfect! The burger had plenty of taste for just two burgers and cheese. I'm from Ohio, but I'd definitely come back again if I'm in the area! Bring a truck to Cincinnati or Columbus!! Service was nice and fast. Loved the truck and the lawn chairs outside of it. There are tables to the side, you can eat at too!
