Great place to eat while on your trip to Bernheim Forest (and only place lol). Located next to the gift shop. Lots of great deli options, and some hot foods as well. The sweet tea was tasty. Service is pretty quick even if there is a line. Inside seating is limited to two tables and bar with five or so chairs but there is plenty of outdoor seating. The Red Velvet cheesecake brownie is awesome and highly recommended if it sounds appealing.

This is a cute little cafe to grab a bite to eat before or after exploring Bernheim Forest. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. The apple butter grilled cheese hit the spot on a chilly day. My friends got the chorizo goulash and black bean soup, both of which were delicious.

Our large group arrived for a Wednesday lunch and we were able to place and pick up individual orders at the counter within minutes. The food is fresh and made to order and some ingredients are sourced on site from gardens at Bernheim. Sandwiches come with a choice of veggies or fruit. The cafe is attached to a lovely outdoor covered seating area, which was terrific with the exception of fighting off countless flies.

Isaac's Cafe is part of the visitor's center at Bernheim Forest. They feature local ingredients from their own edible garden and a menu that caters to gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian diets. It's the perfect way to refuel after engaging in nature play at the Playcosystem, hiking to see the Forest Giants, or after one of the many others trails/activities Bernheim offers. Isaac's offers indoor and outdoor dining. We ordered the Honey Pecan Chicken Salad- a sweet twist on their famous chicken salad recipe including Bernheim's award winning honey, Pop's pepper patch fresh pickle relish, shredded chicken, onions, celery, and pecans, served on wheat berry bread. It comes with your choice of veggies or chips. I opted for veggies with ranch. My husband ordered The Rock Run- an unforgettable combination of Boone's tender roast beef, Monterey Jack cheese, crisp Pop's pepper patch pickles, a kick of their house made horseradish sauce sprinkled with salty potato chips and topped with locally harvested greens. This sandwich is served on marbled sourdough and pumpernickel bread with either chips or veggies and ranch. The kids had grilled cheese on wheat berry bread with veggies. Everything we had was phenomenal. I'm inspired to return to try more of the menu, especially the seasonal soups. I'm not typically a ranch fan, but the ranch was extraordinary. We traded halves and the chips on the Rock Run took me back to my childhood, when chips on my sandwich were a go-to. This grown-up more sophisticated version truly was unforgettable. If cafe's are your forte, Isaac's will not disappoint.

I absolutely loved Isaac's Cafe, which is nestled in the Bernheim Arboretum. The arboretum makes up 16,000 acres, which I learned is the size of Manhattan in New York. To get to Isaac's Cafe, you'll need to enter the main gates of the Bernheim Arboretum. It is free to enter but donations are welcomed. On my visit I ordered the Garden Hummus Vegetable wrap, which I have had at other restaurants but Isaac's Cafe was noticeably different. The lettuce still had a crunch to it rather than being wilty and limp. The hummus appeared to have been just blended and whipped for my sandwich, at least that is what is seemed like and tasted to me. Even the hummus color was bright and vibrant. And the vegetables had such texture that each bite had a crisp or crunch sound, almost as loud as the crunch from my potato chips. When they called my name to pick up the wrap, as soon as I saw it I immediately thought I would eat half of the wrap now and save the other portion for later but I ate the entire wrap in one sitting. The seating on the outside patio was such a treat to sit with nature and hear the birds in the air. I also admired the plants in the many different shades of green coupled with beautiful stalwart trees surrounding the outskirts of the cafe patio.Isaac's Cafe is connected to the Bernheim Arboretum gift shop, which also had local products and eclectic souvenirs for sale. I was limited on time so I wasn't able to look at everything but if you do go plan your day and time accordingly with at least 20 minutes for the gift shop.

Great selection of cafe' fare. Loved the creamy asparagus soup. And my son even enjoyed it 'til he found out what it was!Chickpea salad sandwich was also light, yet filling. Family members had white bean & ham soup, which was great after tromping around on a drizzly morning.
