A little bit out of the way, but definitely worth the time! You start out with a short video presentation of the history and then off to a self guided tour. The people who work there are super knowledgeable about the history and can answer all your questions. Beautiful views add to the experience!

This was actually insanely educational and a lot of fun. The house has so much history, it was great to learn about a family that I had never heard of! Lots of amazing artifacts, the wood in the home is so beautiful, and the tour guides are friendly.

Upon entering the museum we were greeted by a friendly keeper and shown a short video about the Howard family and their steamboat business. Our tour of the well-preserved mansion was self-guided. The place was truly lovely and there was so much to look at that we weren't able to cover everything in one visit!

A true gem waiting to be discovered!Walking into the Howard Mansion is like stepping back in time. I loved every creak of the wooden floor; the wavy glass windows and the stained glass windows. I was in awe of the various antique chandeliers, especially the ones downstairs. They have been painstakingly restored to their original glory as you will see in my pictures. Then there is the grand stair case with its railing that seems to be made for giants. And did I mention the music/ladies sitting room that is in the Moorish style with its intricate arches and more chandeliers? And then there is the second floor that is filled with many, many models of steamboats and tools used on the steamboats. You can also try out a couple of giant original steering wheels from the boats; ring the bell and even "communicate" with your engineer. Our enthusiastic tour guide made our visit even more informative. A trip to this museum could make for a very unique date for anyone who remotely appreciates the olden days.

attended a friends wedding here and OMG it was the perfect space. The building itself is nicely renovated inside and very clean. The lookout upstairs was nice for getting away from the heat of the crowd but still being in the party. The venue is not very large which is good for decoration purposes but definitely need to be sure you won't have many people.

Helpful, knowledgeable staff and a well-repaired* and preserved mansion with many interesting exhibits crammed into its rooms made this a nice tour. The building is beautifully photogenic and there is free parking in the back.*There was a boiler explosion which caused major damage a while back. You wouldn't know if the tour guide didn't point out to you some of the burns and the like.
