The only thing that keeps me from giving you 5 stars is the fact that you stack tee times for profit and make a mad lock on the course. Someone needs to Marshall the tee times making sure there is proper distance between groups. The course itself is in fine shape. There is some spike spots on the greens probably from heavy play and amateurs, but nothing bad. Rough is in great shape for the most part. Not too long, not too short, and mainly weed free. Fairways are cut the perfect length, when I find them. Great large course with opportunities to score low.

My golfing boyfriend and I decided to try out some courses away from Madison County. This was a day and good golfing experience. There was excellent differentiation between fairways and rough. Greens were small relative to other courses in central Kentucky. It was a challenging course with use of creeks, trees, small hooks. Grounds well kept with flowers and nice bushes. For the ladies, the red ties are all shooting straight ahead. No trees, undulations, nice and straight. A great place to play. I highly recommend it.Nice snack bar with sandwiches, drinks and beer if that is your thing.

I really liked this course even though I was awful here. This course provides plenty of good shade with large oak trees on each hole. I really liked the scenery and the look of the course. There were some really nice par 3s and some brutal par 5s. The houses are wisely off the course giving plenty of room for my slice to keep me playing. The rough can be tough for finding balls but the fairways are very nice. I like the greens as well as they alternate from easy to read to what the... They also have good quality golf carts, built in GPA, friendly staff, and well established hole markings. The biggest negative here that they don't have a great lunch/eating spot. The food is a basic deli sandwich for 5 bucks which looks like it cost $1 to make. Plus they don't have beer on tap or any quality beer. They have your basic bud, coors, miller, and michelob. I guess I will buy the $2 Powerade instead. I just enjoy the feel of nature and look of the old oaks and creeks.

Highly recommended by the golf coach Lexington Christian Academy, we called on a Saturday morning and got a 12:25 tee time. Rated as the 4th best in KY. Great round of golf. Good bunkers, smaller greens and mild rough. Good food in the clubhouse.

I have played Houston Oaks many times and have always felt the course was in good shape, that it was a challenge, and did, and still do, think it is one of the better kentucky golf courses to PLAY.My most recent visit found the course in the same great shape, but my experience in the clubhouse was upsetting.Houston Oaks lists their rates online, but does not differentiate between walking and riding, nor senior and non-senior. 18 holes and a cart was 31 dollars. I am a senior at 67, I like to walk when I play, and my charge was 27 dollars to walk 18This means the cart only cost $4, and that is ludicrous. I work at a golf course and would be embarrassed to pull that on a customer. After years of playing....I will not play there again!

Lovely course that has been kept in great shape, however I am extremely displeased with my experience. After PAYING to play nine holes we were finishing our round. The Clubhouse closes at 5:00pm, and as we were finishing our ninth hole right before close, an employee decides to YELL OUT for us to hurry up, so they could bring the carts in. We did not get to finish the ninth hole, and they continued to stand by us as we loaded our gear into our cars. 12 years of playing golf and several past years of experience working at a private golf course, and I have never felt so disrespected from an establishment.

Well kept course with beautiful mature trees and natural creeks and ponds. Worth a drive. Lots of birds. Have to say that on our second visit we did run into a few people not golfing on the course, a couple walking a dog on the cart path and a women walking and talking really loud on the phone. Both caused us to wait. Still enjoyed the course and will be back.
