Holly J's Bar and Grille

The small town charm at this place could be felt upon entering and looking up the long flight of stairs. And if you're there at Christmas, the decorations inside this old theatre turned restaurant made the vibe that much more homey. It is a big place but wasn't busy at all when we went on Sunday. The staff were college age girls who were super nice. The fettuccine Alfredo was pretty good as was the ribeye sandwich. Perhaps because I've had neither for a while. But trust me when I say get the tots. Because I don't know how they make them so darn crispy. The home made chips were solid too. The Philly cheese steak was pretty good and came recommended by the waitress. But I'd probably pass next time. They got a huge hanging petzel with beer cheese which looked awesome. The bill prices in a 3.5% "restaurant fee" I guess because they assume you'll pay with a card. But you can back it out if paying with cash. Pool tables, darts etc upstairs (see video).

The food tasted average and the price was a bit steep for what we received. The server did not refill our drinks as we had to ask to get refills. This appeared to be a good place to take a family out to eat. I heard there was a bar area upstairs, but did not go up there so I cannot speak on that. I would like to see the prices a bit lower or the food quality better. I would also like for the waiters to be more interactive with customers and attentive.

Okay wings. Slow service. Food is pretty basic. Not sure how this place is able to stay open.

First time here. The historic old theatre turned restaurant is beautiful inside. Very clean with a traditional casual atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Kept our drinks full. We ordered a CENTRAL CITY BURGER with ONION RINGS. And a GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH with BAKED POTATO. Hubs said burger was one of the best he had ever ate. Onion rings cooked perfectly. Grilled chicken was fresh. Seasoned just right and not dried out. Chips and salsa as an appetizer. Salsa was very good. Definitely will be going back.

We came on a Saturday afternoon and they weren't too crowded so we were seated quickly. Our server was Courtney and she was very polite and attentive. Our party of 4 ordered different items that came out still warm from the kitchen. Cheeseburger sliders were good and the fries cooked crisp. Other items included ( sorry no pictures) chicken strips and fries and chicken quesadillas and chips/salsa. Everyone enjoyed the food and the interior of Holly J's is very nice and inviting. I would recommend them highly if spending time in Central City.

Very good fried shrimp plate and bone-on parmesan-garlic wings. Only downside is no public wifi.

Beautiful environment!! Love to see this restaurant getting festive! Holly J's gets an A+ for ambiance and atmosphere!

Stopped in for lunch while passing through. Very generous portions that taste great. Wish I had checked out the upstairs but great job restoring a historic building

The service is very slow, however the employees are friendly. The food is very basic though and lack flavor. The inside is very nice and has a comfortable atmosphere.

The good- our server was great, kept the drinks topped up and was available as needed.The bad- stopped in on a Friday night to what sounded Like a kids karaoke party upstairs at FULL volume, it went on for the hour that we waited for our food. Ambiance gets a zero.The Ugly - did I mention it took over an hour after ordering to get our food? When the food came it was just sad, my chopped beef cheese special sauce was way over cooked and had the appearance of having been put back on the grill to re-heat, the homemade chips were over cooked and had no seasoning.So to summarize; an hour plus wait for food listening to 7 year olds singing frozen at full volume and poor quality food.Save your money, time and eardrums and just go to Arby's.
