Love this YMCA! I prefer going to this location over others around town because of how friendly and welcoming the staff is. The equipment is always clean and everything put back in its spot. Since the location is smaller than others sometimes it does get crowded at times, but its never too bad!

Pleasant staff and clean, well maintained facilities. Showers work well with plenty of hot water. Exercise area is clean with modern equipment.

I have a city-wide YMCA membership. I used to only visit the Beaumont location to do water aerobics with my friends, but recently I decided to check out the other two YMCA's and have started to come here instead of Beaumont. This is an older location, and a lot less crowded than the Beaumont Y (but not as empty as Northside). I usually run on the track, which is above the gym. You have to climb an old iron spiral staircase to get to the track and it isn't air conditioned, so it is oftentimes empty (which is exactly what I am looking for). The track rattles in some spots, so that may bother some people. Also, if you have a fear of heights, I wouldn't recommend using this track. There are a good number of classes that you can attend at this Y. I have gone to the Zumba class and enjoyed it. One of my friends does pilates here and really likes it.A big plus is that they have towel service at this location and not the others. I also want to note that at this Y people are a lot less shy about walking around without towels on than the other two!

This is one of the best YMCA's in town. It is not as big as the Beaumont one, but definitely has everything that you need.It is 50$ for registration and 50$/month after if you are over 25. I just turned 25 and I got the 30$/month deal and you can go to any of the YMCA's in Lexington for this. It is a pretty good deal for 30$.It is at one of the main locations downtown and they have good parking spots. Though, it is hard to get a spot at evening times (4- 7 pm).The gym has everything you need. The rowing machine is my favorite and this is one of the few gyms in Lexington that has it.The swimming pool has 4 lanes and it is a good place to relax. They locker rooms are clean and you can borrow a lock from the reception desk. The locker rooms have sauna and steam rooms (my favorites)They have basket ball courts and heavy gym machinery on upper floors. The best part about Y is you have various classes like Yoga, Zumba and Pilates happening throughout the week at different schedules.i tried all the classes atleast once and the dance classes are my favorite. There used to be a hip hop dance class (more fast paced than Zumba) which was fun. They stopped it for some reason. Hope it resumes in the future. You need to bring your own yoga mats for Yoga classes.Zumba classes are fun. I dance like an awkward sheep and yet I go, so there is nothing stopping you and feel free to go and let yourself out.

The staff is phenomenal!!! I called to inquire about any information I would need know regarding the re-opening, and Caitlyn suggested the best treadmill to use. (It's located in front of a fan!). Forget any suggestions of "updating" of this place, this is my second home. From my conversations with so many people, I'm not alone in this. I wish I could give a million stars!!

The High Street Y may not be the newest, shiniest gym in Lexington, but it shouldn't be discounted! The staff are helpful and friendly, there are always machines open, and for $30 a month it is definitely budget-friendly. Great pilates and yoga classes for all levels of experience.

The High Street YMCA (right in the middle of Downtown) is a fantastic gym. So it may not have all the fancy schmancy, brand spanking new equipment of Urban Active or Golds Gym or whatever, but I'll tell you, it also doesn't have the ego, and the hair gel and the grunting, and posturing that usually goes hand in hand with those places. The membership rates here are excellent, and it's never terribly crowded. The worst times are basically morning and evening rush hours before everybody goes to work and right after they get off, but even then, there are machines available, racquet ball courts open, and at least one lap lane in the pool. And best of all, this place has free towel service. I prefer this Y to the Beaumont Center location hands down!

Love working out here. The upstairs weight room is GREAT! If you cannot stand the crowds and lights of places like golds and urban active than this place is for you. I can only wish for a new leg press machine. This is the only piece left out of the puzzle. The current one will bow your back with too much weight on it. The staff was able to work with me on an extremely competitive monthly rate. I cant get over how nice the equipment is compared to the price of a membership. There are some strange people that come here though... I cant stand it when old dudes walk around the locker room in the nude for prolonged periods of time. Its just creepy
