We recently camped at Blue Licks Battlefield St Park. We'd stayed at another KY state park last year, and eaten at the lodge restaurant. We had some of the best fried green tomatoes we've had, and a good meal, so decided to give Hidden Waters a go.We arrived very early for dinner, and there was only one other couple in the dining room. Troy was working the floor, and he was very welcoming and helpful in answering our questions. We had the fried green tomatoes, and again, they were excellent. My wife ordered the Country Fare (pinto beans, fried potatoes, cole slaw and cornbread). Price, $7 ! I had the catfish dinner. The catfish was lightly dusted in cornmeal and very tasty. We both really liked the slaw. The potato salad was just meh. I tasted her pinto beans and they were excellent. We each had a beer ($3 !).We asked Troy why the prices were so reasonable, and he said they were still trying to win back customers post Covid. All in all, our service was very welcoming and professional, and the setting in the woods very inviting. If you're in the area and looking for a good homestyle meal at a great price, I recommend Hidden Waters.

Located inside of Blue Licks State Resort, this buffet restaurant is very similar to the other Kentucky State Park resort restaurants that I so love. I was there on a weekend, so maybe they were bringing out their best, but I was impressed. I was being good that weekend and only got the salad bar options. It's a few dollars cheaper than if you choose to get the hot bar options too, which honestly isn't a bad deal, but I was motivated to eat as healthy as possible. We ate here a few times during our stay in the area. Each time service was great and we never had to want for refills. One time I ordered from the menu, instead of getting the buffet. The breakfast burrito is what I ordered and it was filling and overall a good way to break the fast.

This restaurant is a part of the Blue Licks state park/resort in the main lodge. I honestly was not expecting too much and was even kind of looking forward to it based on pictures from Google Reviews. It didn't look bad.. and reminded me of some of the decent little Amish buffets from back in the day, but unfortunately, there's been quite the decline from the pictures I saw to my actual visit. The menu stated the main entrees were Salisbury Steak, Fish and Fried Chicken. The buffet had the following:*Salisbury Steak - Straight from the freezer. *Some sort of questionable ground steak served with a side of white gravy. *Fried fish - The only decent entrée located.*Red potatoes chopped in half and thrown into a vat of hot water*Colored greens that were losing their green color by the minute*Sweet baby carrots*No fried chicken to be found, and in Kentucky of all places. (What the heck, Ya'll!?)But the real disappointment lied in the dessert department, which was a sad apple pie that was still doughy and white as a babies bottom. *wamp-wamp*The service wasn't bad, and the layout itself isn't bad at all. A great place for large events with very large groups. They have a cozy little fire place AND a painting of the Blue Licks revolutionary war massacre to keep your mind entertained while your stomach suffers complete boredom. Unfortunately, if the restaurant is catering food to your group--They may be vastly disappointed from the quality being served. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but it truly was just not hitting the mark. Clientele were also teetering on the gray haired scale during our visit. Two stars is for the price of it all. The prices are on par for a buffet of this type, and maybe even quality... I think it was near $9 per person, which is not bad for AYCE type of place, but the food just could not redeem a rating any higher.

My husband & I were staying at the lodge for an artifact show so decided to visit the restaurant Saturday night around 6 pm. We wanted to get something to take back to our room so I checked the menu online first. I assumed we wouldn't be able to get the buffet they are known for to go.Ryan, who took our order was super friendly & helpful. He informed us that indeed we could get the buffet to go. With that, each of us would get two large styrofoam containers & an additional small plastic container for a dessert. We got so much that we actually went home with more food than we came with!Everything was/is delicious. My husband didn't think he liked catfish but loved theirs. We are also huge fans of the coconut shrimp, all of the cooked vegetable items we got were tasty. Desserts were good. The salad items were fresh. Everything was the correct temperature.I read some critical reviews on here but encourage anyone to give this restaurant a try. Ryan did mention there had been some changes in management & menu so if you didn't like it before maybe give it another shot! :)

This restaurant should stay hidden!!! Especially when you drive over an hour and you get there to be put on a list with half the dining room empty!?!! And the food isn't even worth the wait!!! Don't waste your time and money here. They ran out of food and the desserts were still frozen!! Nothing had any taste!

We have been coming here for several years and the first time was great, but has drastically gone down hill. Ate here on a Saturday evening and the food was so dry on the bar not fit to eat! Also, afraid of the food safety because of the look of the food appearing to have sat out for way too long. This is our last time....

So very disappointed. For the past decade, always liked forward to coming here when we were traveling through the area. It was always packed any night if the well and tonight there were 2 other people. It is obviously under new management since our last visit. Worst buffet I've ever eaten. All the hot food was room temperature and some was cold. I truly worry about food safety. They really should have kept the old menu. Only good thing was the waitress was nice.

They have a full buffet with everything you would want. They also serve liquor now! Tuesday is seniors night and you can't beat the price - $6.99 for full buffet. That includes salad bar, 2-3 meat/fish and several desserts.
